India On Track To Eradicating Maoism By Next Year? What The Numbers Show

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly said that the government is committed to eradicating Maoism from India by March 2026, and the goal got a fillip when at least 27 Maoists -  including top leader Nambala Keshavrao alias Basavaraju, who carried a bounty of Rs 1.5 crore - were killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh earlier this month.

Data accessed by NDTV shows that the government and the security forces are inching closer towards the target of ending the Maoist movement, which began in 1967.

Home ministry data reveals that there were 1,936 incidents of Maoist violence in 2010, which came down to just 374 in 2024 - a drop of 81%.

The number of Maoist-affected districts has also seen a steep fall, going from 126 in 2013 to 70 in 2021 and just 18 as of April this year.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

After the encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur earlier this month, Home Minister Shah had said it was the first time in three decades that a general secretary of the CPI-Maoist had been killed.

"Also glad to share that after the completion of Operation Black Forest, 54 Naxalites have been arrested and 84 Naxalites have surrendered in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The Modi government is resolved to eliminate Naxalism before the 31st of March 2026," he had said.

Engineer In US In Dilemma After Getting Job Offer In India With "Decent Pay"

The dream of moving abroad for a better life has fuelled the ambitions of countless Indians, but is the grass really greener on the other side? An Indian engineer, who chased that dream all the way to the US, is now seeking Reddit's advice on whether he should move back to India. The anonymous user revealed that he currently lives in the US with his wife and two young children, "one of whom is in Kindergarten". He said has spent most of his professional life in the US, but he was recently offered a job in India with decent pay.

"Hi, I am in my mid 30s working in IT industry. I worked mostly in the US. I have 2 kids, 1 of which is in Kindergarten and other one is a toddler. I just got a job offer in India with a decent pay and in my native state. I am working for an Automotive company through an Indian consultancy," the Redditor wrote.

Should I move back to India from US? Is this right time to do it?

The user shared that his current salary just meets household expenses, however, he added that he values the work-life balance and family time that he is able to get in the US. "I may not get it in India where the work demands more additional work time," he wrote. "I am unable to choose. What would you do if you are in my situation?" he asked the Reddit community.

The post has gone viral, triggering a discussion online. "It's a hard choice, and honestly, no one can really help you decide. You just have to commit to one option, not look back, and accept that you can't have the best of both worlds," commented one user.

"Move back before the kids grow up. Getting adjusted will be difficult as they get older," said another.

"If you can't increase your salary in the U.S. and can live comfortably in India with additional savings, then it makes sense to move back. Your expenses will only rise once both kids start school," said a third user.

"If you don't foresee making more $ here and your wife cannot help out financially, It's probably best to move back. It only going to get worse here and the bigger issues are actually going to be visa related. If you were to lose your job, you won't have a backup and will end up emptying all your savings. Your kids are young, they will get used to India. Once they're older, it will be really hard for them to move to India," commented one user.

Gill's Captaincy Receives Brutal Review After IPL Exit: "You Can't Drop..."

After Gujarat Titans' (GT) bowed out of IPL 2025 with a 20-run defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator, former India batter Robin Uthappa said the Shubman Gill-led side cannot expect to win the championship if they suffer catching lapses and suffer due to flaws in strategy. In New Chandigarh on Friday evening, GT dropped three important catches – two of which were of Rohit Sharma, who went on to make a dashing 50-ball 81. Suryakumar Yadav was also given a reprieve in the 12th over, as MI made 228/5. GT also got their middle overs enforcer Prasidh Krishna to bowl with the new ball, a tactic which backfired as Rohit and Jonny Bairstow came out all guns blazing in the powerplay. "GT's strategy was more reactive than proactive. Using Prasidh in the powerplay – despite his success in middle overs – was a misstep.”

“His first over was expensive, and they failed to course-correct. The 26-run and 22-run overs proved costly. On top of that, their fielding let them down. You can't drop that many catches and expect to win a championship," said Uthappa on JioHotstar.

Uthappa, who previously won IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, reflected on how Rohit made a calculated shift in his batting approach after being given two reprieves.

"After the early drop, Rohit flirted with danger briefly but quickly recognised the need to take control. He shifted gears, played responsibly, found the gaps, and built key partnerships. His composure stood out. When players like Rohit, Dhoni, or Kohli are at the crease, the pressure is on everyone else. Sai Sudharsan is starting to reach that level too."

With MI set to meet Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, Uthappa stated he expects a fierce battle between the two teams. The winner of Qualifier 2 will meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the title clash in Ahmedabad on June 3.

"Punjab are hurting and will come out firing. Mumbai, riding high on momentum, will bring intensity as well. It's set to be a blockbuster, one for the ages," he concluded.

Rohit Sharma Achieves Historic High In IPL, Becomes First Indian To...

Mumbai Indians seasoned opener Rohit Sharma crossed the 7000-run milestone in the cash-rich league, becoming just the second after his long-time compatriot Virat Kohli to achieve the feat. Rohit upped the ante during MI's pulsating Eliminator fixture against Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur. He notched a sizzling 81 from 50 deliveries to send the five-time champions into the driver's seat with a score of 228/5. Rohit, who averaged barely above 15 before his rollicking display, took his guard, gunned down his past nightmares to cross the 7000-run mark in the cash-rich league, and became the second batter to join the exclusive club.

Gujarat twice had the opportunity to rob Rohit of his landmark occasion and avoid being clobbered. On the penultimate delivery of the second over, Coetzee dropped a sitter off Prasidh Krishna, allowing Rohit to survive an early scare when he stood at three.

In the next over, Rohit gave away a faint edge off Mohammed Siraj, but Kusal Mendis couldn't collect the ball in his gloves and floored the opportunity. The 38-year-old never looked back and enjoyed his night riddled with fortune.

He decimated GT's ball tweakers to establish his authority. He unleashed a relentless onslaught on Sai Kishore and then smoked the ball into the stands to add to Rashid Khan's agony and cross the 7000-run landmark in the IPL in the 9th over.

Rohit's record-breaking night came to an end in the 17th over when he tried to take on Prasidh but got deceived by the slower variation and deposited the ball into Rashid Khan's hands. Following his exploits, Rohit has 7038 runs under his belt in 271 matches at 29.82, with two centuries and 47 fifties and a best score of 109*.

It was sixes galore for Rohit as he cleared the boundary rope four times with brute force. Rohit crossed the 300 sixes mark in the IPL and joined 'Universal Boss' Chris Gayle for the elusive feat. Rohit has 302 sixes to his name, behind Gayle's record-breaking tally of 357 and Virat Kohli trailing in the third spot with 291 maximums.

How Trump Administration Targeting Chinese Students Was Years In The Making

The United States' plans to “aggressively” revoke visas for Chinese students did not happen in a day. US President Donald Trump and his allies had been laying the groundwork for this since years.

In 2023, in a campaign trail, Trump vowed to ban “Christian-hating communists, Marxists and socialists” from the country, shut down China-funded Confucius Institutes on U.S. college campuses and even prosecute Chinese scientific researchers and professors working at US universities.

“The president laid it out there in the campaign… when he says he's going to do something in the campaign, he actually tries to do it,” said Ken Cuccinelli, who was Trump's deputy of Homeland Security during his first term, per a report by the Politico.

“The reason people like me raised it in the first term is the reason you're hearing from Rubio — there are very real security reasons to not help the Chinese advance their position in technical fields, and certainly not anyone more closely associated with [the Chinese Communist Party].”

The administration has China hawks who have been focussed on cracking down China's influence on US institutions.

About 277,000 Chinese students studied in the US last year, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State has vowed to “aggressively revoke” the visas and said that they will focus on people with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or those studying sensitive subjects.

“The Secretary made this decision in the administration's ongoing effort to protect our homeland from espionage and other hostile actions,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

China has condemned the policy and termed it “unreasonable”, one that “damaged the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students and disrupted the normal cultural exchanges between the two countries.” The policy further complicated ties between the countries which are already battling strained ties since Trump put a 145 per cent tariff on Chinese goods but ultimately reduced it to 30 per cent after a temporary agreement with China. Similarly China also reduced the tariffs on the US from 125 percent to 10 per cent.

This week the US curbed critical US technology sales to China, including software that is used to make semiconductors.

The visa revocations for Chinese students comes as the initial step in removing Chinese influence from the United States. Trump allies hope the next target will be funding for universities working with Chinese grad students.

Moreover, US immigration law bars members of the Communist Party from becoming naturalised citizens or green card holders, however, these rules do not apply to people in the United States on student or tourist visas.

“Those who come to enjoy our country must love our country,” Trump said. “We're going to keep foreign, Christian-hating communists, Marxists and socialists out of America.”

Legislation to limit Chinese nationals from obtaining visas for STEM-related studies had been introduced as early as 2020 by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) He applauded the administration's decision in a statement, saying “China's use of students to spy on political dissidents and American researchers is a well-documented national security threat.”

Rubio too had introduced a bill in 2021 targeting Chinese nationals in 2021. He pressured local colleges to shut down their Confucius Institutes when he represented Florida in the US Senate. He said in 2022, vocally opposing China, saying that it “is the most formidable near-peer adversary our nation has ever faced.”

Chinese Military Evades Questions On Performance Of Weapons Used By Pak

The Chinese military on Thursday declined comment on the performance of China-made weapons used by Pakistan in the recent conflict with India.

Chinese Defence Ministry Spokesperson Sr. Col. Zhang Xiaogang also played down the reports of India recovering an unexploded PL-15E, a radar-guided beyond visual range missile, said to be the most advanced rocket of its kind produced by China.

"The missile you mentioned is an export equipment and has been shown at defence exhibitions at home and abroad many times", Zhang said in the Chinese defence ministry's first media briefing after the May 7-10 military conflict between India and Pakistan.

India and Pakistan are neighbours that cannot be "moved away", Mr Zhang said, parrying questions about Indian officials' assertions that China provided air defence and satellite support to Pakistan in the military conflict and Chinese weapons systems performed below average.

Considering the large-scale use of Chinese weapons supplies by Pakistan and the all-weather ties between the two countries, the Chinese official media showed considerable interest in the India-Pakistan military confrontation.

About two weeks after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed, India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 under Operation Sindoor. Pakistan attempted to attack the Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions.

According to a recent report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China has emerged as the largest weapons supplier to Pakistan, accounting for 81 per cent of arms procurement of China's all-weather ally from 2020 to 2024.

The procurement included the latest jet fighters, radars, naval ships, submarines and missiles. Both countries jointly manufacture J-17 aircraft, the mainstay of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

87,812 Indians Got Canadian Citizenship In 2024, Most From Any Nation

Canada's Citizenship Week, which kicked off on May 26 and runs until June 1, is a vibrant celebration of the country's rich diversity and the shared values that define Canadian citizenship.

At the heart of this celebration is the recognition of the incredible contributions immigrants make to Canada's growth and prosperity. According to Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab, "Each year, Citizenship Week offers our country an occasion to reflect on the meaning of citizenship." She beautifully encapsulates Canada's identity as "a mosaic that includes Canadians of all backgrounds and cultures," emphasising the importance of Indigenous Peoples' histories and the commitment to reconciliation.

The statistics underscore the significant role immigration plays in shaping Canada's identity. In 2024, a substantial 3.74 lakh individuals were granted Canadian citizenship, with Indian nationals making up 23% of this number, totaling 87,812 individuals, per a report in the Times of India. This represents a notable increase from 2023, when 78,714 Indians gained citizenship. Minister Diab praises the courage of those seeking better opportunities and security for their families, saying, "It takes incredible courage to face the challenges and uncertainty of a new place."

As Canadians celebrate this diversity, the government has outlined its immigration plan for the next few years. The targets indicate a slight decrease in permanent resident admissions, with 3.95 lakh planned for 2025, 3.80 lakh for 2026, and 3.65 lakh for 2027.

Despite this reduction, the government aims to prioritise those already in Canada, with over 40% of permanent resident admissions in 2025 expected to be from temporary residents. Minister Diab encourages Canadians to attend public citizenship ceremonies, highlighting the importance of recognising the value immigration brings to Canada. "As Canadians, it is our responsibility to continue to highlight the value that immigration brings to Canada, and to protect the inherent rights and dignity of those who seek to call it home," she emphasises.

The Citizenship Week celebrations serve as a poignant reminder of Canada's commitment to its diverse population and the values that define its citizenship. As Minister Diab so eloquently puts it, "We also take this moment to recognise that our diversity is our strength and to collectively recommit to building a better future for all who live here."

Harvard Has Got To Behave, Have A 15% Cap On Foreign Students: Trump

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Harvard University should have a 15% cap on the number of foreign students it admits and that the Ivy League school needs to show the administration their current list of students from other countries.

"Harvard has got to behave themselves. Harvard is treating our country with great disrespect and all they're doing is getting in deeper and deeper" Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office.

Why Donald Trump Cannot Build The Golden Dome Without Canada

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday unveiled new details on his plan for a missile defence system known as "Golden Dome", which is estimated to cost a total of some $175 billion. The "Golden Dome" will be the first weapon the US puts in space, and it should be operational in about three years, by the end of his time in office, the President said.

The System is meant to protect the United States from all kinds of missile or drone attacks, but Trump said that Canada has expressed interest in being part of it as "they want to have protection also."

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Wednesday his government is talking to the US about joining President Donald Trump's future Golden Dome missile defense program.

"Is it a good idea for Canada? Yes, it is a good to have protections in place for Canadians," Mr Carney said. He also added, "We cooperate if necessary but not necessarily cooperate," Mr Carney said.

However, he missed out one important detail, that is, he cannot build it without Canada. The latter would need to play an important role in the working of the $500 billion Golden Dome. They would need to provide radars and airspace needed to track the incoming missiles in the Arctic.

“There's a lot we just don't know. There's a lot that needs to be revealed about how the economic and security partnership with America and Canada will unfold,” said Shuvaloy Majumdar, a Conservative member of Canada's parliament.

Trump has entangled the US and Canada in tariff wars, which have caused strained ties between the two countries. Hence, Canada now has some leverage when it comes to the US.

“None of [the Golden Dome partnership] has been spelled out or negotiated,” Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in an interview. “The president, because of his rhetoric, has alienated a large part of the Canadian population, and that's being reflected in the political leaders … it's not, you know, good old Canada-USA. It's like, ‘We can't do this easily, because our people are very upset.'”

Canada has a large airspace that offers the US an important line of sight for the US sensors to shoot down missiles from China and Russia. Moreover, historically, Canada has played a big role in air and missile defence for North America.

“What Canada really brings is terrain,” said Glen VanHerck, a retired Air Force general who led the U.S. Northern Command until last year. “If we can position, or Canada positions, over-the-horizon radars further north in the Arctic, that dramatically increases the United States and Canada's ability to see over the pole into Russia, into China and other places.”

The North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, has ensured since 67 years that American and Canadian militaries work together daily to track anything that comes close to the airspace. The radars of both the countries share information.

Canada has funded 40 percent of NORAD investments, and is adding $38 billion over the next two decades. Without the help of Canada, the US will have difficulties building an important North American air defence.

Carney and his ministers “are having wide-ranging and constructive discussions with their American counterparts,” Audrey Champoux, a spokesperson from the prime minister's office, said in a statement.

The U.S Northern Command, which oversees NORAD, said it “will continue to prioritise our core mission of defending the United States and Canada and will ensure any new capabilities align with that objective.”

Kohli Achieves Historic Highs, Becomes 1st Ever Batter In IPL History To...

Virat Kohli has made history for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025. Playing against Lucknow Super Giants, Virat Kohli reached 9000 runs for RCB when he reached the score of 24. The former Indian cricket team captain is the first player to do so. He also slammed a half-century in 27 balls. Kohli achieved another big feat. Kohi is now the first batter to cross 600 five times in IPL. Virat is RCB's highest-ever run-getter in history, combining statistics from IPL and now-defunct Champions League T20. Kohli ultimately fell on 54.

Most runs for a team in Men's T20s
9004 - Virat Kohli for RCB
6060 - Rohit Sharma for MI
5934 - James Vince for Hampshire
5528 - Suresh Raina for CSK
5314 - MS Dhoni for CSK

600-plus aggregate in an IPL edition most often
5 - Virat Kohli (2013, 2016, 2023, 2024, 2025)
4 - KL Rahul (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022)
3 - Chris Gayle (2011, 2012, 2013)
3 - David Warner (2016, 2017, 2019)

Before Tuesday's match, in 279 matches and 270 innings, he has scored 8,970 runs at an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 133.49. He has scored eight centuries and 64 fifties. His best score is 113*.

He is the highest run-getter in IPL history, with 8,552 runs in 264 matches and 256 innings at an average of 39.59, with eight centuries and 62 fifties. His best score is 113*.

In 15 matches for RCB in CLT20, he has made 424 runs at an average of 38.54 and a strike rate of 150.35, with two half-centuries. His best score is 84*. He is the franchise's top run-getter in the competition.

Virat has been sensational this season, top-scoring for the franchise with 548 runs in 12 innings at an average of 60.88 and a strike rate of 145.35. He has scored seven fifties, with the best score of 73*. He is the sixth-highest run-getter in the tournament currently.

Rishabh Pant produced his best batting of the season in the last league match, scoring a scintillating unbeaten century to propel Lucknow Super Giants to 226/3 in 20 overs in Match 70 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Ekana Stadium here on Tuesday. Pant, who has struggled throughout the season, moving up and down the order but managing only one half-century, found his mojo in the last match and put up a brilliant display of power-hitting as he hammered his second century in IPL history to help LSG set the biggest chase ever at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The previous highest chase here is 206 and RCB will not have to set a new record for the venue if they have to win this match.

Pant remained unbeaten on 118 off 61 balls while Mitchell Marsh continued with his superb form for the season with 67 off 37 balls as LSG reached a massive total.

RCB, who need to win this match to finish among the top two and secure a place in Qualifier 1, faltered with their team selection, leaving out skipper Rajat Patidar on the bench.

Asked to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants were off to a poor start as debutant Matthew Breetzke (14 off 12, 1x4, 1x6), who was struck on his head by Nuwan Thushara, departed with 25 runs on the board, Thushara castling him with a beauty. However, skipper Rishabh Pant showed a welcome return to form in their last match of the season as he joined Mitchell Marsh in raising 142 runs for the second wicket, propelling the side towards a huge total.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), needing to win the match to finish among the top two, looked a bit off-colour on the field as their bowlers proved a bit ineffective against Pant and Marsh.

Pant looked in his element as he started with a 2,6,2,4,0,4 blitz against Yash Dayal in the fourth over and went from strength to strength from there as LSG reached 55/1 in the power-play.

Pant continued to flourish with a six and four off successive balls against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the fifth over, a six followed by two fours in the 10th off Suyash Sharma, and a four and six off successive balls against the same bowler in the 10th as he raced to his half-century in 29 balls.

Marsh, who has been the top scorer for LSG this season, was equally good at the other end as he raced past the 600-run mark for the season, scoring his half-century in 31 balls as they reached the 150-run mark in their partnership in 85 balls.

Desperate to stem the run flow, RCB skipper Jitesh Sharma brought Bhuvneshwar Kumar into the attack but Marsh treated his return with sixes off successive balls -- the first over the bowler's head, while the second was a loft off a fullish delivery bowled wide, went high into the sky but landed way beyond the long-off boundary. However, the bowler had the last laugh as he induced an outside edge on a scrambled seam delivery that landed full on sixth stump. Marsh attempted a loft again but edged it behind. He was out for 67 off 37 balls studded with four fours and five sixes.

Pant continued to thrive and reached his second century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in seven years as he blasted boundaries at will, reaching the three-figure mark off 54 balls.

Pant showcased his best in the final match of the season, He didn't have any pressure as his team was out of the race and was playing for pride. Pant batted freely and was also helped by some innocuous bowling by the RCB bowling unit.

Pant hammered 11 boundaries and eight maximums for an unbeaten 118 off 61 balls, batting in the third and fourth gear throughout the match. Nicholas Pooran scored 13 off 10 balls and was out in the final over as LSG set up the biggest chase for RCB.

KKR To Release Rs 23.75 Crore Buy? Ex-India Star Reveals Big 'Indicator'

Former Indian cricket team batter Aakash Chopra believes that Kolkata Knight Riders' decision to drop Venkatesh Iyer for the final IPL 2025 group stage match against Sunrisers Hyderabad was a glimpse at their strategy for next year. Venkatesh, who was bought for a mammoth Rs 23.75 crore in the mega auction, featured in the impact substitute list for KKR on Sunday but was not used by the side. During his analysis on YouTube, Aakash said that this can be an indicator that Venkatesh can be released by the franchise ahead of the next season and the franchise can try to buy him back for a lower price.

"The big news for me from this match was that they didn't play Venkatesh Iyer. He was in the impact substitute's list, but you didn't get him to bat. You got Manish Pandey and Angkrish Raghuvanshi to bat, and you played Ramandeep Singh and Rinku Singh. You played everyone, but you left Venky out."

"Is that the indicator that Venky will be released next year? You will release ₹23 crore, and then you may want to buy him back at a lesser price. That is a possibility, but I feel we have got an indicator for next year," he added.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane said underwhelming batting performances by key players like Rinku Singh and Andre Russell, was the main reason for the defending champions' disappointing eighth-place finish this IPL season.

Rahane said while the bowling unit largely met expectations, the failure of three-four main batters derailed their campaign. KKR's season ended with a crushing 110-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Monday.

"It's just that for us as a team, three-four guys were out of form. Where we faltered was at the batting end. As a batting unit, collectively, we couldn't do well," Rahane said during the post-match media interaction.

"Unfortunately, two-three players were going through that phase for us. And that was the reason we couldn't do well...But again, they are pretty much experienced enough to handle this situation.

"I'm sure they will come back stronger next year...Rinku (Singh), Raman (Ramandeep Singh), all the players, they will learn from the mistakes and come back stronger."

The post quickly gained traction online, with many users criticising the candidate's unprofessional behaviour and applauding Ms Agnihotri for sharing the experience. One user wrote, "The Frequency of such incidents has increased these days. You did right blocking him. Always use the company's number for screening out candidates and not let them reach the interview."

Another commented, "We should disclose their identity to teach them a lesson and prevent them from targeting others. Blocking alone won't stop such behaviour. Some may argue that this could ruin their career, but if we don't take action, they will continue to harass others."

A third said, "Those who are genuinely looking for a job don't get involved in unnecessary distractions. Only a few people indulge in such irrelevant jokes or behaviour. It's similar to how we remove stones from rice — we need to filter out such individuals and block them. I believe that due to the actions of a few, we shouldn't generalise or behave unfairly with everyone. However, if there is still any doubt, it is better to communicate through email, so that both parties have a proper record as proof."

"No Oil Spill So Far": Navy On High Alert After Ship Sank Off Kerala Coast

Liberian vessel carrying 640 containers, including 13 with hazardous cargo, sank off the Kochi coast on Sunday, sparking fears of a possible oil spill. All 24 crew members were rescued after the ship developed a critical tilt on Saturday, according to officials.

So far, no oil spill has been reported, the Ministry of Defence said on Sunday as full pollution response preparedness was activated by the Indian Coast Guard which was monitoring the situation along with the Indian Navy.

"Liberian container vessel MSC ELSA 3 (IMO NO. 9123221) sank off the Kochi coast at around 0750 hrs today on May 25, 2025, due to flooding...

"The vessel went down with 640 containers, including 13 with hazardous cargo and 12 containing calcium carbide. It was also loaded with 84.44 MT of diesel and 367.1 MT of furnace oil," the ministry said in a statement.

Of the 24 crew members, 21 had been rescued by the Indian Coast Guard on Saturday, and the remaining three were later rescued by INS Sujata, which joined the rescue operation launched by the ICG.

Given the sensitive marine ecosystem along Kerala's coast, the ICG has activated "full pollution response preparedness" and ICG aircraft equipped with advanced oil spill detection systems are conducting aerial surveillance, officials said.

"ICG ship Saksham, carrying pollution response equipment, remains deployed at the site. So far, no oil spill has been reported," the defence ministry said.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has cautioned the general public against touching any cargo containers or oil spills that may wash ashore.

The coast guard has confirmed that the vessel was carrying Marine Gas Oil (MGO) and Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO).

Deploying its ships and aircraft, the Indian Coast Guard had launched a rescue operation on Saturday following a distress call from the Liberian container vessel that developed a critical 26-degree list nearly 38 nautical miles southwest of Kochi.

The emergency began on May 24, when MSC ELSA 3, en route from Vizhinjam to Kochi, developed a 26-degree "starboard list" approximately 38 nautical miles southwest of Kochi, the officials said.

The vessel lost stability, prompting a distress call. ICG's Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre (MRSC) in Kochi immediately launched a coordinated response, they said.

"An ICG Dornier aircraft was deployed for aerial surveillance, spotting two life rafts with survivors. ICG patrol ships and merchant vessels MV Han Yi and MSC Silver 2 were also diverted to assist, in line with global search and rescue protocols," the defence ministry said.

By late evening of Saturday, 21 of the 24 crew, including nationals from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, and the Philippines, had been rescued. Three senior crew members remained onboard to assist with salvage arrangements, it said.

"However, the vessel's condition deteriorated overnight and it capsized on May 25. The three crew members were forced to abandon the ship and were rescued by INS Sujata," the statement by the ministry said.

The Coast Guard on Sunday also shared the rescue operation update and some pictures on X.

Noting that the sensitive coast of Kerala is home to both vivid biodiversity and is a major tourist attraction, the Coast Guard in a statement issued earlier in the day, said, the ICG has geared up pollution response preparedness and coordination with the state administration for all possible scenarios.

"ICG aircraft with advanced oil spill mapping technology are undertaking an assessment of the situation. Presently, no oil spill has been reported," it said.

A Defence PRO said another vessel from the parent company had reached the area as part of the assistance efforts.

He added that the Coast Guard, which spearheaded the rescue operation, and Indian Navy ships are maintaining their positions in the area and monitoring the situation.

The KSDMA has cautioned the general public against touching any cargo containers or oil spills that may wash ashore.

They have also urged people to immediately inform the police if they spot any containers or oil on the shore.

The 184-metre-long vessel, MSC ELSA 3, departed for Kochi from Vizhinjam port on Friday.

At around 1.25 pm on May 24, the company owning the ship informed Indian authorities that it was listing by 26 degrees and sought urgent assistance.

The Coast Guard was coordinating rescue operations by maintaining ships and aircraft near the distressed vessel.

The vessel's 24-member crew comprises one Russian (the Master), 20 Filipinos, two Ukrainians, and one Georgian national.

According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, there is a possibility that cargo --including containers and oil-- may wash ashore.

KSDMA also warned that oil films could appear along parts of the coast.

Gill Makes Big Claim On Rohit And Kohli's Retirements: "Know How To..."

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had "very contrasting styles" of leadership but the two iconic players along with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have given the Indian team the "blueprint to win" Test series away from home, says new skipper Shubman Gill, who was on Saturday appointed India's captain in Tests. The first assignment for the 25-year-old is a five-Test series England where he won't have stalwarts like Kohli and Rohit in the line-up. "(The) guys like Rohit bhai, Virat bhai and Ashwin bhai… they have given us a blueprint on how to tour away from home and win matches and series," Gill said in a video released by the BCCI on Sunday.

"Yes, it's one thing to be able to deliver and execute, but because we have that blueprint, we know how to tour away from home and win matches and series," he added.

Gill said while Kohli and Rohit had contrasting styles of leadership, they were also quite similar in style.

"When I was a kid, I was always inspired by the great and the legends of Indian cricket and (I've) been very fortunate to be able to play with so many of them, be it Virat bhai or Rohit bhai,” he said.

"Both were very contrasting in terms of their style, but it was very inspiring to see both of them working towards a common goal. You want to be able to win as a captain and your styles can be different, but they both were very different, but also similar in their own sense.” "Virat bhai was always very aggressive, always wanting to lead from the front with hunger and passion whereas Rohit Bhai was also aggressive. You might not see that in his reaction or expression, but he was also someone who was always very attacking on the field,” Gill said.

The Indian Test skipper added, “Rohit bhai was someone was very calm and tactically always very present, and he was very communicative to the players, what he wants from the players, and so these are the qualities that I learnt from." Often the burden captaincy affects the batting, but Gill said his approach would be to keep both segregated.

"One thing that I learnt was (that) if I am a batsman and batting out there, I want to be able to make decisions as a batsman and not as a captain,” he said.

"If I start thinking about other things, it just puts more pressure on me which is not required because when you are batting out there, you want to be able to take those risks, you want to be able to make decisions that you would make when you are playing just as a batsman.” He added, "Because that gives you the freedom (and) that is one of the things that I learnt that whenever I am getting out there, I just want to be able to make decisions as a batsman and not really want to think that ‘oh I am the captain'." Gill said it was “overwhelming” to be appointed the Test captain as well as a “big responsibility”.

"Definitely (it is) a bit overwhelming,” he said.

"As a young kid when anyone starts playing cricket, they want to play for India and not just play cricket for India, but play Test cricket for India for a very long time.” "To be able to get this opportunity is a great honour and like you said, it's a big responsibility. I'm looking forward for this exciting opportunity and I think the upcoming series in England is going to be very exciting one,” he said.

Gill said his captaincy philosophy would be to not only lead by example but also give his players their own space.

"I believe in leading by example — not just by performance, but I think off the field (as well) by discipline and hard work,” he said.

"As a captain, a leader should be able to know when to step in, but also when to give space to the players because everyone has kind of had a different life and grown-up differently.” "Everyone is a different personality and a good leader should always be able to know what makes his place, to be able to have the best performance or the best outcome, that is always exciting.” He continued, “To be able to have those conversation with the players, to be able to know them on a deeper level than just cricket because then you are really able to know what can get the best out of them." ChatGPT Talks Man Out Of Quitting Job For 'Awful' Business Idea

A few weeks back, ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman called out the AI model for being too "sycophant-y" as it turned into a 'yes-man', instead of a rational chatbot. As the fixes were applied, it appears that ChatGPT is back to its best and helping users not take irrational risks. A Reddit user recently presented a business idea to ChatGPT, only to be told it was not a great venture and that he did not need to quit his job.

The OP posted screenshots of the chat with the AI model, captioning it, "I told ChatGPT I was going to quit my job to pursue an awful business plan".

"You know how some people have lids that don't have jars that fit them? What if we looked for people with jars that fit those lids. I think this would be very lucrative," read the pitch, posted in the r/ChatGPT subreddit.

The chatbot responded with cautious optimism by calling the idea "a fascinating metaphor" and "kind of brilliant in a poetic way," before clarifying: "You're talking about a real problem..."

However, the AI bot quickly pulled up things when the OP said: "I'm going to quit my job to persue this."

The AI, in a serious and direct response, said: "Simon, do not quit your job to pursue this idea. At least, not yet."

When the user said he had sent the resignation email, the large language model (LLM) powered chatbot suggested ways to mend the situation.

"If there's any ambiguity, we can still roll this back. Even if it was clear-cut, you can still send a follow-up saying..."

I told chatGPT I was going to quit my job to pursue an awful business plan.

As the post went viral, social media users could not contain their laughter and praised the AI chatbot for stopping the OP from quitting his job.

"An idea so bad, even ChatGPT went 'hol up'" said one user while another added: "GPT being the supportive, optimistic friend, then panicking when they realise they were a little too supportive."

A third commented: "Honestly surprising, given that this is 4o, I expected it to be like "what a great idea, you are such a visionary, future generations will read about you in history books!"

Notably, the 4o model was updated and improved in both intelligence and personality last month, with the company hoping to improve overall user experience.

Schumacher Signs Helmet 12 Years After Accident. F1 Great On The Mend?

Michael Schumacher continues to remain an intriguing name in F1, even after remaining away from public eye for over a decade since a horrific skiing accident in December, 2013.  Since then, details about his health condition have been kept confidential. It has been reported in the past that Schumacher has been residing in Switzerland. Last year, former world champion Sebastian Vettel, who is close to Schumacher and his family, recently revealed that the F1 legend "is not doing well".

However, now a great news has emerged. According to a report in European media, Michael Schumacher signed a crash helmet last month with the help of his wife Corinna Schumacher. That helmet is to be auctioned for charity. The F1 great those world champions to contribute his signature for the noble cause. In all, 20 world champions have signed on the helmet.

Johnny Herbert, Schumacher's teammate at Benetton in 1994 and 1995, said the act was an 'emotional' moment.

"It's wonderful news that Michael Schumacher signed Jackie Stewart's helmet," Herbert told FastSlots.

'It was a wonderful moment. We haven't seen something emotional like this in years, and hopefully, it's a sign. Hopefully, Michael is on the mend. It's been a long, horrible journey for the family, and maybe we'll hopefully see him in the F1 paddock soon.

"Michael Schumacher making an appearance at an F1 race weekend would be one of those special moments from one of the greatest drivers we have ever seen.

"It would be so welcomed, not just from everyone in the paddock, but everyone around the world. Considering the awful situation he found himself in, and to battle back against it, it would be amazing.

"I hope we continue to hear this positive news more often."

Speaking to Mail Sport, Stewart said: 'It is wonderful that Michael could sign the helmet in this worthy cause - a disease for which there is no cure. His wife helped him, and it completed the set of every single champion still with us.'

"Congress Leak": Pralhad Joshi's Claim After Raids Against Karnataka Minister

Union minister Pralhad Joshi has weighed in on the huge row over Enforcement Directorate's allegations linking gold smuggling accused Ranya Rao and the Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara, claiming that it is the fallout of a factional fight within the state Congress.

"The Congress's own complained to the Enforcement Directorate," the minster claimed.

"Who is writing letters to the Enforcement Directorate to take action?" Mr Joshi said.

"A faction within the Congress is sending information against Parameshwar and now doing drama. Let me say this clearly, we respect Parameshwara. He is a decent politician. But there are people within the Congress who are sending complaints. Siddaramaiah knows. The intelligece is under him. Ask him. Now he is doing drama,' he added.

The ED, he said, will act when they get information, "Not because he is a home minister or a Congress leader.

The political row in Karnataka snowballed after the Enforcement Directorate raided educational institutions linked to the Karnataka Home Minister in connection with the gold smuggling case.

The central agency, which is investigating the money laundering angle in the smuggling case, claimed they have found that an education trust had diverted funds and made a payment of Rs 40 lakh towards the credit card bill of Ranya Rao, allegedly on the instructions of an influential individual.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who met the home minister today, explained the payment was a wedding gift to Ranya Rao.

"I just spoke to Parameshwara, there was a marriage (ceremony), we are in public life, we run institutions. As a gesture to people we know, we give lots of gifts, we give Re 1, Rs 10, Rs 10 lakh, Rs 5 lakh. I think he might have also given a gift. It was a marriage, nothing wrong in it," he said.

Asked about Mr Shivakumar's remark, Mr Parameshwara said, "You ask DK Shivakumar." Asked if he would cooperate with the investigation, he replied, "Of course."

The Congress has claimed that the state's opposition BJP is politicizing the gold smuggling case to target the ruling party.

Iran's Khamenei Fed Up With Trump's "Nonsense" Demands, Defers Future Talks

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has let his displeasure about Donald Trump and the US administration's demands in the crucial nuclear talks be known publicly, calling them nonsensical and utterly outrageous.

Khamenei, who is increasingly doubtful that a new nuclear deal with the US will see the light of day, has called the US' demands of Tehran ending all uranium enrichment as "excessive and outrageous".

Asked about the progress being made by Tehran and Washington in drafting a new nuclear deal, a visibly annoyed Mr Khamenei said, "I don't think nuclear talks with the US will bring any result. I don't know what will happen."

'NOT NEGOTIABLE'

Four rounds of talks in, Mr Khamenei, frustrated with Washington's insistence over 'no enrichment', said the US should avoid such "nonsense" demands, which Iran has made clear, is "non-negotiable".

Giving a cold shoulder to Washington over its request to hold the next (fifth) round of talks, Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araqchi said, "A date has been suggested but we have not yet accepted it." However, there has been some talk in both capitals about the possible venue being Rome.

'DEFIES LOGIC'

Iran's foreign minister went on to say that the demands being made by the US side during negotiations "defy logic". Such an approach "creates problems" and might derail talks, he hinted. He said Iran is waiting for logic to prevail in Washington before Tehran even considers the next round of talks.

"We are witnessing positions on the US side that do not go along with any logic and are creating problems for the negotiations. That's why we have not determined the next round of talks. We are reviewing the matter and hope logic will ultimately prevail," he said.

Both sides have been combative regarding talks on uranium enrichment, and neither is looking to budge on its stance, leading to, what now seems like, a stalemate. Preempting this, Donald Trump has issued an open-ended threat to Iran - "move quickly or something bad is going to happen".

TRUMP'S WARNING TO IRAN

In recent times - when Iran was reluctant to even come to the negotiating table - Donald Trump had threatened Tehran on multiple occasions, saying Iran would be bombed and shall also face very harsh sanctions if it did not compromise on its nuclear programme. President Trump has already moved in two US aircraft carrier fleet - USS Carl Vinson and USS Harry S Truman - in the Arabian Sea while also ordering the largest-ever deployment of B-2 bombers in the Indian Ocean - at its military base in Diego Garcia.

Satellite images have shown at least six B-2 stealth bombers parked along the military base runway in Diego Garcia - a joint Indian Ocean military base of the US and Britain. That's roughly 30 per cent of its B2 Bomber fleet.

NUKE AMBITION

Steve Witkoff, United States Special Envoy to the Middle East has said that for civilian purposes, 3.67 per cent uranium enrichment is enough. Tehran has already gone far beyond that. Enrichment levels of uranium in Iran are already up to 60 per cent - a short, technical step away from reaching weapons-grade levels of 90 per cent.

"This cannot be allowed," Mr Witkoff has said, while Donald Trump backed him, saying, "Iran has to get rid of the concept of a nuclear weapon. These are radicalised people, and they cannot have a nuclear weapon."

In YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra's Diary, Takeaways From Her 10 Days In Pakistan

YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who has several videos on her social media handles detailing her trips to Pakistan, has been hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons. The 33-year-old has been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan and is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency and the Intelligence Bureau. Now, two pages of her diary have emerged, which give a glimpse of her 10 days in Pakistan. The diary was recovered by the Haryana Police.

"Today, I have returned to my country, India, after a 10-day trip from Pakistan. During this time, I received a lot of love from the people of Pakistan. Our subscribers and friends also came to meet us. The two days we got to visit Lahore were not enough," read the undated entry.

Using adjectives "crazy and colourful" for Pakistan, she said her experience there can't be described in words.

One of her entries had a request to the Pakistani authorities, "Protect the temples there and let Indians meet their families from whom they were separated in 1947".

The content creator from Haryana, who ran the YouTube channel 'Travel with Jo', was arrested on May 16 and charged under the relevant sections of the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Jyoti Malhotra was among 12 people who were arrested from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh over the past two weeks on charges of espionage, with investigators pointing at an alleged Pakistan-linked spy network operating in northern India.

The YouTuber's financial transactions and travel details are also under the probe agency scanner. Earlier, police said her known sources of income did not justify her foreign travels.

A forensic analysis of Jyoti's laptop is underway, the police said, adding that they would also question those who were in touch with the YouTuber.

During the investigation, her link to a Pakistani official posted in the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi surfaced. She was allegedly in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahum alias Danish whom she first met in 2023 during her visit to the Pakistan High Commission, where she went for a visa to visit the neighbouring country. Ehsan-ur-Rahum was expelled on May 13 for "engaging in activities incompatible with his privileged status".

Earlier, Hisar SP Shashank Kumar Sawan said that the YouTuber was being developed as an "asset" by Pakistani intelligence operatives.

"This is modern warfare that is not just fought on the borders. We came across a new modus operandi wherein PIOs were trying to recruit some social media influencers," he said.

The officer also said Jyoti went to Kashmir before the Pahalgam attack and visited Pakistan before that, and police are trying to establish the "links" between these visits.

With Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowing out after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the focus shifts to Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Both teams face a unique set of challenges and scenarios to clinch the coveted fourth position. The upcoming matches will be crucial in determining which team advances to the knockout stages.

Mumbai Indians (MI): In Control but Must Stay Vigilant

Currently positioned fourth with 14 points from 12 matches and a robust Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.156, MI holds a favorable position. Their remaining fixtures are against the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals. Winning both matches would elevate them to 18 points, ensuring a playoff berth and potentially a top-two finish. However, a single loss could complicate their path, especially if it comes against DC, who are direct competitors for the playoff spot. In such a scenario, MI would need to rely on their superior NRR and favorable outcomes in other matches to secure qualification.

Delhi Capitals (DC): Aiming for Consistency

DC stands fifth with 13 points from 12 matches and an NRR of +0.260. Their upcoming games against PBKS and MI are crucial. Securing victories in both would take them to 17 points, solidifying their playoff position. However, a loss in either match would leave their fate dependent on other results and NRR comparisons. The match against MI is particularly significant, as a win would not only boost DC's points but also hinder MI's progress.

Upcoming Fixtures

  • May 21: DC vs PBKS
  • May 22: MI vs DC

These matches are set to be decisive in shaping the final playoff lineup. Teams will need to not only focus on winning but also on improving their NRR to enhance their qualification prospects. As the league stage concludes, fans can expect thrilling encounters and high-stakes cricket.

LSG Star, Who Was Fined By BCCI, In Heated Spat With Abhishek. Reason Is...

Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi, who was fined by BCCI over his controversial celebration, got into a heated spat with Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma during their IPL 2025 match on Monday. The incident took place on the 8th over of the SRH innings after Abhishek was caught in the deep for 59. The youngster looked in sublime form as he slammed 59 off 20 deliveries but he ended up gifting an easy catch to Shardul Thakur. Following the dismissal, Digvesh did his customary book-signature celebration but Abhishek was not happy as the duo got into a war of words. Replays showed that Digvesh gestured towards Abhishek after the dismissal and that could have flared tempers.

Earlier, openers Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) hit fifties as Lucknow Super Giants set a 206-run target against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL clash on Monday.

Marsh and Markram were in top form to put on 115 runs inside the first half but LSG lost their momentum in the second during which Eshan Malinga bowled an impressive spell of 4-0-28-0.

While LSG skipper Rishabh Pant (7) endured yet another poor outing, Nicholas Pooran (45) did well to help his side post 205/7.

Markram, Marsh and Pooran have also scored more than 400 runs in IPL 2025, making LSG the first team to have three overseas batters crossing the mark in the same season.

Marsh is the 10th-highest run-getter this season, with 443 runs in 11 innings at an average of 40.27 and a strike rate of above 157. He has five fifties, with the best score of 81.

Markram is the 12th highest run-getter this season, with 409 runs in 12 innings at an average of 34.08, with a strike rate of 148.72. He has scored five fifties, with the best score of 66.

Pooran, who played a fine hand of 45 in 26 balls, with six fours and a six at a strike rate of 173.08, is the team's top run-getter. He is the ninth-highest run-getter with 455 runs in 12 innings at an average of 41.36, with four fifties in the tournament and the best score of 87*. His runs have come at a strike rate of 197.82.

IPL Playoff Scenarios Explained For All Teams: GT Through, MI And RCB...

Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs with a comprehensive victory over Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Thanks to the result, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings also booked their spot in the Top 4. All three teams are also in the run for the Top 2 spots which will guarantee them two chances to reach the final. Coming to the match, KL Rahul's ton went in vain as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan produced stunning knocks to clinch the win for GT.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs with their win over Delhi Capitals. With 2 matches remaining, GT can reach a maximum of 22 points and the Shubman Gill-led side is one of the favourties to finish in the Top 2 after the group stage.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

GT's win over DC also meant that RCB are through to the playoffs. They can reach a maximum of 21 points if they win the two remaining matches and can finish in the Top 2 if GT lose one match.

Punjab Kings

PBKS also qualified for the playoffs and if they win their next two matches, the Shreyas Iyer-led side can finish in the Top 2 if RCB or GT lose one match.

Mumbai Indians

MI will have to win all of their remaining two matches in order to finish in the Top 4. Two wins will take them to 18 points and their strong Net Run Rate (NRR) can prove to be extremely important.

Delhi Capitals

The loss against GT mean DC will now have to win both of their remaining two matches. However, that will take them to 17 points and their qualification may come down to NRR and other results.

Lucknow Super Giants

LSG face the toughest task when it comes to IPL 2025 playoff qualification. They will have to win their three remaining matches and hope for other results to go their way. Three wins will take LSG's points tally to 16 and it will most certainly come down to Net Run Rate (NRR).

Shreyas' Big Act Goes Viral After Getting Subbed Out During RR vs PBKS Game

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was subbed off at innings break during the IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Shreyas, who was suffering from a finger injury, was subbed off after scoring 30 off 25 deliveries, did not field at all during PBKS' bowling. While Shreyas was not on the field, that did not stop the Indian cricket team batter from getting involved. During the match, he was seen having a conversation with fielders at the boundary line and even helping stand-in skipper Shashank Singh with the field set-up. PBKS ended up winning the encounter by 10 runs.

Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar bowled a match-turning spell after Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh made bruising fifties as Punjab Kings edged closer to an IPL playoff berth with a 10-run win over Rajasthan Royals here on Sunday.

Brar, who came in as a substitute for skipper Shreyas Iyer -- possibly unwell due to extreme heat -- was introduced in the fifth over and the left-arm spinner walked away with an impressive 3/22 in four overs, helping PBKS to restrict RR to 209/7 in the chase of 220.

The Punjab side had earlier made 219 for five riding on an unbeaten on 59 off 30 deliveries (5x4, 3x6) by Shashank and Wadhera (70, 37b, 5x4, 5x6).

With this win, PBKS (NRR: +0.38) climbed to 17 points and they are second on the table behind leaders Royal Challengers Bengaluru (17 points, +0.48) on net run rate difference.

The Ricky Ponting-coached side needs just one more point to secure a playoff berth for the first time since 2014.

Brar, who mixed up his angles, trajectory, and pace with precision, played a big part in that.

His scalps included the 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi (40 off 15; 4x4, 4x6) and Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had launched a brutal assault up front with his (50 off 24).

Together they flew off the blocks with a stand off 76 runs in just 4.1 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai (2/44) then landed a double blow, sending back skipper Sanju Samson (20 off 16) and Shimron Hetmyer (11 off 12), as RR's chase lost steam.

Dhruv Jurel (53 off 31 balls; 3x4, 4x6) hit form to score his second fifty of the season but it went in vain as Marco Jansen (2/41 in three overs) removed him and Wanindu Hasaranga in successive balls in the last over to end their chase.
