'You Have To Be AI Fluent For Employment Going Forward': Rishad Premji To NDTV

India has not missed the artificial intelligence (AI) bus and there are several opportunities available for the country's companies, which can help enterprises make use of the technology at scale, Wipro Executive Chairman Rishad Premji has said.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV CEO and Editor-In-Chief Rahul Kanwal on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, Premji emphasised that the people most at risk of losing their jobs because of AI are those who do not adopt the technology. AI fluency, he insisted, is going to be critical for any kind of employment going forward.

To a question on what AI will bring in 2026, the Wipro chairman said organisations will leverage the technology more and more to serve their businesses and their customers.

"I think the language models don't have enough context and in-depth understanding of the workflow of individual organisations... So there's a huge opportunity in infusing specific context, domain and workflow understanding of organisations into that to make it relevant and really drive production scale. So, I find that presents a huge opportunity for companies," Premji said.

"There's so much money being spent on infrastructure in many markets, including India and Europe, but ultimately somebody has to drive consumption of that infrastructure to drive returns for organisations. And I think the technology services companies from India have a huge chance to drive their adoption by helping enterprises make use of these technologies at scale," he explained

On whether India needs to focus on the foundational AI layer instead of the application layer and try and have a DeepSeek moment of its own, the Wipro chairman said it does not make sense for companies like his to invest in replicating those models. Value, he said, can be unlocked in how they can specialise them.

"So the value is in building highly specialised small language models. We had a conversation yesterday where you can build models that have 50 billion parameters and can do effectively 95% of the work that most large language models can do. So you can be highly specialised. There's a huge opportunity for enterprises to build highly specialised small language models. There's an opportunity for countries like India," he said.

"These models can be for areas of importance like healthcare, education, agriculture and governance. So there's a huge play in just driving that specialisation as well as focusing on multilingual models. We have a huge opportunity to serve many different languages in our country. And so we, as a company, should focus on where our strengths lie, like talent on scale... We often get hugely focused on building out the technology. The magic is in the implementation of the technology," he maintained.

India, Premji said, can become the scale deployment engine of the world and also build talent for AI globally, which is a big challenge.

'Can Catch Up'

Asked whether he agreed with some commentators who say India has missed the AI bus, Premji asserted that is not the case.

"The AI bus is still very early. A lot of the investments have happened in the infrastructure layer. They haven't happened in the adoption layer. That journey is going to unfold over the next five, seven, ten years. I think there's a huge opportunity for us as companies and as a country to participate in that journey," Premji emphasised.

"I don't believe at all that we have missed the bus. I think the bus is very much in starting mode and we can catch up and jump onto that bus quite easily without falling down," he added.

Layoffs?

To a question on layoffs at IT organisations and how AI will impact the employment environment, Premji said technology services companies have not seen a reduction in the number of people and have actually added more employees over the past few years.

Jobs, he said, can largely be categorised in four buckets.

"One is jobs that will get disrupted because of AI, and we have to accept that. Bucket number two is jobs that will get enhanced by AI, so you work with machines and humans to drive that impactfully. Three is jobs that will get created because of AI, and four will be human-only jobs. So we have to think of bucket one and figure out how we can retrain, repurpose those people -  through the right skilling, through the right opportunities - to move into buckets two and three," he said.

The biggest challenge, the Wipro chairman explained, is getting people to adopt AI, and the people most at risk are those who don't do so.

"I think it's the responsibility of organisations, industry and government to really give people the comfort that this change is important. AI fluency is the new digital currency. You have to be AI fluent to be relevant to do any kind of job going forward. So it's about how we can help people build those skills. They need to understand that if they disrupt what they are doing today, they still have a future, because the system will beat them anyway if they don't," he maintained.

Tackling Uncertainty

The uncertainty brought in by decisions taken by US President Donald Trump is now much more controlled, Premji said, because people and global companies like his have factored it into their calculus.

"There was perhaps a little bit of a hiccup in April-May last year when the whole trade discussion unfolded, but I think customers have now learned to move forward knowing that this may be more uncertain than they had planned for," he said.

"On the situation around visas and immigration, all of us are navigating that by leveraging the talent we already have and focusing more and more on local employment and local hiring. Almost 80% of our talent in the US is local, so we're not as concerned about that. We also focus on building talent locally everywhere in the world, like we have done in India," he added.

Video Shows How Northeast Trains Stay Clean, Passengers Collect Trash In Bags

Citizens exhibiting a disregard for cleanliness, especially in public places, is a topic of intense discussion in India. The passenger trains often witness the worst side of Indian travellers who litter without a care and unload the responsibility of maintaining sanitation on the authorities. While debates about the lack of civic sense continue, the North East region of the country has once again led from the front and highlighted how a progressive society should operate.

Shared on Instagram by a user named @daily.passenger, the widely shared video shows passengers on the Aizawl-Guwahati train taking personal initiative to keep their surroundings clean. They were seen diligently collecting their waste in bags, demonstrating a high level of civic awareness without needing reminders or enforcement from the authorities.

"People were tying their waste in small bags and hanging them neatly beside their seats. No announcements. No instructions from the railways. Just a habit," read the caption accompanying the video.

"As someone from North India, this made me reflect deeply. We often complain about dirty trains and roads, but rarely question our own behaviour. Clean spaces do not stay clean because of authorities alone. They stay clean because people choose to care. There is so much to learn from Mizoram and the North East. Respect for public spaces is not a campaign. It is a way of life."

'So Much To Learn'

As the video went viral, social media users lauded the passengers for keeping the train clean and hoped that passengers in other regions of the country would learn from their behaviour.

"There is so much to learn for all of us from our fellow Indians of the North East," said one user, while another added: "It's not about the area but the civic sense of people.

A third commented: "This is great to see from them. I'm from Tamil Nadu. I appreciate that and hopefully it is followed across India. I request one thing that the trash is desposed in a safe way, instead of throwing it out on the tracks @irctc.official."

A fourth said: "We were told since childhood to carry our waste in our pockets or bags and throw it into a dustbin when we see one."

Trump was asked at a White House briefing about a "private message" from the French leader -- suggesting an emergency G7 gathering in Paris -- that the US leader posted on his Truth Social network earlier on Tuesday.

Asked if he would be open to such a meeting, Trump told reporters: "No, I wouldn't do that."

Cigarette In Hand, Driving At 120 kmph: 4 Teens Die In Udaipur Car Crash

Four teenagers, including three minors, were killed and six other people were injured when two cars collided in Udaipur on Saturday. A video that has emerged shows that the car in which the teenagers were travelling was being driven at a speed of 120 kmph at one point and at least two friends of the man driving, who was nonchalantly smoking a cigarette as music blared and a video played on a screen next to him, had urged him to slow down moments before the crash.

While there is darkness after the collision, the phone keeps recording and at least one of the friends can be heard begging people to rescue him, telling them he can't breathe.

The six friends had left in one car after attending a 'Mehfil-e-Milad' programme in Udaipur and were headed to the old Ahmedabad highway to have some tea. Their car collided with another, which was headed towards Gujarat, and while four of the friends - Mohammad Ayan (17), Adil Qureshi (14), Sher Mohammad (19), and Ghulam Khwaja (17) - died, two were seriously injured. All four people in the other car also sustained injuries.

The nearly nine-minute video shows one of the friends in the backseat recording Sher Mohammad driving as a Haryanvi song plays very loudly, along with the video, on the car stereo. As the car's speed crosses 100 kmph, the 19-year-old, still smoking, shows no sign of slowing down.

The friend recording says, "Haath hatao (move your hand)", and then focuses on the speedometer, where the needle can be seen crossing the 120 kmph mark. Soon after, a friend says the car is now at 140 kmph and asks Sher Mohammad to slow down. This is followed by another friend urging him to do the same.

Just seconds later, the car swerves, a scream can be heard, followed by a massive bang, the sound of glass shattering, and then darkness.

This is at the 1.23 mark in the video. Static follows for at least 40 seconds until two people can be heard groaning in pain

The cries of agony continue for over two minutes before one of the friends can be heard asking someone near the site of the accident for help. "Bachalo bhayya... Mummy... Bachalo (Save me, please)," he can be heard saying.

"Bachalo, main andar phansa hua hoon, mereko saans nahin aa rahi hai (I am stuck inside, I can't breathe)," he pleads and continues to do so as the video ends around the nine-minute mark.

Both surviving friends in that car, as well as the four in the other vehicle, are undergoing treatment, officials said.

Jana Nayagan Crosses 1 Million Interests On BookMyShow Ahead Of Court Hearing

Despite being caught in a web of legal hurdles, actor Vijay's much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan continues to generate remarkable buzz among audiences. The film has crossed a significant milestone by registering over one million 'interests' on BookMyShow, even as its theatrical release remains uncertain.

Fans Eagerly Await Jana Nayagan's Release

A look at Jana Nayagan's BookMyShow page shows that more than one million users have clicked the 'I'm interested' option, signalling strong anticipation for the film whenever bookings open.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

This surge in interest comes at a time when the film is yet to receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film was slated to hit theatres on January 9, but days before the scheduled date, it was revealed that the CBFC had not cleared the project and had instead referred it to a revising committee. Since then, uncertainty has loomed over the release, with no official confirmation on when audiences will finally be able to watch the film on the big screen.

Legal Roadblocks And Uncertain Release Timeline

Last week, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by the film's producer, KVN Productions LLP, seeking immediate certification for Jana Nayagan. A Bench comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Augustine George Masih declined to intervene, criticising the "blistering pace" adopted by the makers and pointing out that the matter is already scheduled for hearing before the Madras High Court Division Bench on January 20.

The producer had approached the top court after the Division Bench of the Madras High Court stayed an earlier Single Bench order that directed the CBFC to certify the film without delay. With limited legal options now available, the fate of Jana Nayagan hinges on the upcoming High Court hearing.

Adding to the significance is the fact that Jana Nayagan is being touted as Vijay's final film before his full-fledged entry into politics, following the launch of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Gill Gives Blunt Verdict After ODI Series Loss Against NZ: "Disappointed"

Indian cricket team skipper Shubman Gill expressed his disappointment after his side's ODI series loss against New Zealand on Sunday. Star batter Virat Kohli slammed a sensational century but it was not enough as India slumped to a 41-run loss against New Zealand in the 3rd ODI match in Indore. Batting first, New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 337/8 thanks to tons from Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips. In reply, Kohli played a brilliant knock and was even supported by Nitish Kumar Reddy as well as Harshit Rana but it was not enough. Following the series loss, Gill said that he was disappointed with how the team played and added that there were many areas that they need to look back and reflect on.

"After the first match, coming here 1-1, the way we played - disappointed. There are areas we need to look back, reflect and do better. (On the positives) The way Virat is batting is always is a plus. The way Harshit has batted in this series, batting at No. 8 is not easy," he said at the post-match presentation.

"The way he stepped up and the way the fast bowlers bowled in this series was good as well. Keeping the World Cup in mind, we want to give him (Nitish Reddy) opportunities and we want to give him enough overs and see what kind of combinations work for us and what kind of deliveries work for him," he added.

Coming to the match,  Kohli's magnificent, combative century, forged with trademark resolve under mounting pressure, proved heartbreakingly insufficient as India slumped to their first-ever bilateral ODI series defeat at home against New Zealand, losing the decider by 41 runs.

Kohli's 124 off 108 balls was a study in controlled aggression and steely temperament. The chase master shouldered the responsibility almost single-handedly, counter-punching a disciplined New Zealand attack with crisp drives, well-judged pulls and calculated risks over the ropes.

As wickets tumbled regularly at the other end, Kohli dug in, refusing to let the chase drift away, but once he fell late in the innings, India's resistance finally collapsed at 296 in 46 overs while chasing a stiff 338.

The defeat not only handed New Zealand a 2-1 series win but also marked a historic first -- India had never before lost a home ODI series to the Kiwis.

It was a sobering evening for the hosts, made more poignant by the fact that one of their finest modern-day batters had delivered a near-perfect response to adversity.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell's second consecutive hundred and Glenn Phillips' blistering century powered New Zealand to a competitive 337 for eight despite early jolts from India's pace attack.

Mitchell (137) and Phillips (106) stitched together a 219-run partnership for the fourth wicket that turned the innings on its head.

A Mumbai-based comedian has shared an incident when he, almost, fell victim to a 'sophisticated' e-challan scam, where fraudsters created a fake portal mimicking the official Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) website. The comedian, whose name is Shridhar V, posted screenshots on X (formerly Twitter), which showed a message about a pending challan.

The fake portal, designed to look authentic, tricked the comedian into entering personal and financial details. The scammers aimed at stealing sensitive information and money.

The screenshot showed a text message for a fake speeding challan. Notably, the message was from a normal 10-digit number. He clicked on the link, and the URL of this page was 'echallan.pasvahan.icu', but the 'echallan.parivahan.gov.in'. The spelling or parivahan was also wrong on the fake portal as it was 'pasvahan'.

Such scams have become so common in India, attempting to dupe hundreds of people every day. To curb such activities, the authorities advise citizens to verify such messages through official channels and avoid sharing personal details on unverified websites. Good to put this out," one user praised Shridhar for highlighting the issue, while some simply suggested to always check the number, as the government will never send such messaged using normal numbers.

Indian Man Shares 7 Reasons For Choosing The Netherlands To Work

An Indian man living in the Netherlands has caught the internet's attention after sharing why he chose to move to the European country. Taking to Instagram, the user named Anuj Sharma, who works in finance, cited work-life balance and quality of life as key reasons behind his decision.

In a viral post titled 'Reasons I chose the Netherlands to work over any other country,' Sharma outlined seven compelling reasons why moving there was a no-brainer.

"This is purely based on my personal choices and experience. It can vary from person to person," wrote Sharma.

Here Are The 7 Reasons Listed By Sharma For His Decision:

  • Sharma highlighted that one of the biggest reasons to pick the Netherlands was the 'game-changer' 30 per cent ruling under which an expat's salary is non-taxable for the first five years. He added that the in-hand salary becomes way better due to this rule.
  • Job security feels solid here, Sharma stated, adding that strict labour laws and strong employee rights made the workers feel protected and stable at work.
  • English is everywhere. Around 98 per cent of people speak English, so as an expat can settle in without feeling lost.
  • Sharma said work-life balance, which is a concept in Indian was actually a reality in the Netherlands "People respect your personal time. Work ends on time and life doesn't feel like a constant hustle," he wrote.
  • Safe streets, clean cities and peacefulness meant that the quality of life was high in the Netherlands.
  • Public transport and cycling culture: You don't need a car. Trains, buses and bikes make commuting easy and affordable.
  • Sharma stated that everything was organised in the country, ranging from paperwork to basic services. Systems are structured, which translates into less stress and more peace of mind.

Quizzed on how an Indian should apply for job opportunities in the Netherlands, Sharma advised checking the list of visa-sponsoring companies and visiting their career pages. After finding relevant vacancies, they should apply directly.

The Netherlands is known for its work-life balance standards, with employees typically working 29-36 hours per week. The country's labour laws prioritise employee well-being. Earlier this month, an expat went viral, saying they sent a work email at 6:00 am, which prompted the management to call a meeting to discuss whether they were experiencing undue work pressure.

'Time For New Leadership': Trump Calls For End To Khamenei's Rule In Iran

US President Donald Trump called for an end to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's 37-year-old rule. "It's time to look for new leadership in Iran," he told Politico on Saturday after the country in the Middle East was rocked by weeks of protests against the Islamic Republic.

"The best decision he ever made was not hanging more than 800 people two days ago," Trump told the publication.

Trump argued that Iran's leadership relies on repression and violence to run the country. He blamed Khamenei for "complete destruction of the country" and for using unprecedented levels of violence.

"In order to keep the country functioning – even though that function is a very low level – the leadership should focus on running his country properly, like I do with the United States, and not killing people by the thousands in order to keep control," Trump said.

He added, "Leadership is about respect, not fear and death."

Calling Khamenei a "sick man", Trump said that it is because of the leadership of Iran that it is the "worst place to live anywhere".

What Ayatollah Khamenei said

Trump's remarks come soon after Khamenei vowed to "break the back of the seditionists" involved in the protest. He also blamed Trump for "casualties" during the anti-government demonstrations in Iran.

"We do not intend to lead the country to war, but we will not spare domestic criminals," Khamenei told supporters during an address marking a religious holiday. He said that "international criminals" would also not be spared punishment.

Iran's authorities have called the protests "terrorist" operations and "riots" and claim that it was an "American conspiracy" to dominate Iran militarily, politically and economically.

Trump had warned that if Iran killed protesters, the US would intervene militarily. He also encouraged the protesters to take over state institutions by saying, "help is on the way." However, that did not happen, and in the meantime, security forces killed at least 3,428 protesters.

What Reza Pahlavi said

Exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi had also urged Iranians across the country to "raise your voices in anger and protest with our national slogans". Many protesters have chanted the name of Pahlavi, whose pro-Western father fled in 1979 in the Islamic revolution.

Pahlavi, seeking to touch a nerve with Trump, called on him not to be like his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama, who negotiated with Tehran. "I believe that President Trump is a man of his word and ultimately he will stand with the Iranian people as he has said," Pahlavi said when asked if Trump had given false hope.

Pahlavi told reporters that he wants to lead a transition to a secular democracy, with a popular referendum to choose the next system of government, and said, "I will return to Iran."

From Giving It To Nazis To Selling It: When Nobel Laureates Gave Up Medals

In an unexpected move, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented her Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House on Thursday. She described the gesture as "a recognition for his unique commitment with our freedom."

The Nobel Committee, however, was quick to clarify that such a transfer has no legal or symbolic standing. According to the Norwegian Nobel Institute and the Nobel Committee, once awarded, a Nobel Peace Prize cannot be transferred, shared, or reassigned. This rule is a core principle of the Nobel Foundation's statutes, as laid out in Alfred Nobel's will.

While a laureate is free to dispose of the physical medal or prize money as they wish, the official title and honour of being a Nobel Peace Prize recipient permanently belong to the chosen laureate and cannot be passed on.

However, Nobel laureates parting with their award medals is not unprecedented.

Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, with Maria Ressa of the Philippines, for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression in their respective countries. Muratov auctioned his medal the year after he won the prize for a record-breaking $103.5 million. The proceeds from the sales were donated to UNICEF's fund for Ukrainian child refugees after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

Danish physicists Niels Bohr and August Krogh also auctioned their award medals to raise funds for Finnish War Relief after the Soviet Union invaded Finland in 1939. The medals were later donated to Danish museums.

Niels Bohr's son, Aage Bohr, also won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1975. He had his medal sold in an auction in 2011 and then again in 2019. He won the prize with Ben Mottelson and James Rainwater for their work on the collective motion in atomic nuclei.

Norwegian author Knut Hamsun, who was a Nazi sympathiser, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1920 and presented his medal to Nazi Germany's Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels as a gesture of support during World War II.

James D. Watson became the first living Nobel Laureate to sell his medal. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962 along with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins for discovering the DNA structure. He said that the proceeds would go towards scientific research and conservation. However, in a twist of fate, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov bought the medal and returned it back to Watson, saying that the scientist "deserved" to keep it.

John Nash received the Economic Sciences Prize for his work in game theory. His medal was auctioned at Christie's in 2019, where it sold for $735,000. The proceeds went towards the John C.M. Nash Trust.

India Won't Leave Iran's Chabahar, Working With US For Middle Path: Sources

As the clock ticks down to the expiry of the US sanctions waiver on India's operations at Iran's Chabahar Port, New Delhi is engaged in quiet but intensive negotiations with Washington to protect what it sees as a critical strategic and connectivity asset.

Top sources in the Indian government have told NDTV that India is exploring a "middle-ground" approach that could address American concerns while safeguarding India's long-term interests at the port.

"India is considering some options that would indirectly protect our interests in Chabahar Port and at the same time satisfy the US side to some extent," top government sources told NDTV, underlining that New Delhi is not preparing to pack up and leave.

According to the sources, after negotiations with the US, a six-month waiver till April 2026 was granted "as a special case" to wind up operations, but that pathway is "not an option as far as New Delhi is concerned".

"India continues to engage with the US side to work out modalities. Exiting the port is not an option as it's of strategic importance to India. India is keen to show the US that New Delhi will work on the conditions of the sanctions. So the negotiations are a bit complicated," the sources added.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The official position was echoed by the Ministry of External Affairs.

"As you are aware, on 28 October 2025, the US Department of Treasury had issued a letter outlining the guidance on the conditional sanctions waiver valid till 26 April 2026. We remain engaged with the US side in working out this arrangement," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said to a question on the status of the waiver.

NDTV had reported on October 30, 2025 that American sanctions would not apply to India's Chabahar Port operations, with a special six-month waiver granted retrospectively from October 29. The reprieve came even as broader US sanctions on Iran remained in place.

In 2024, India had signed a 10-year contract with Iran under which the state-run India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) committed investments of $370 million in Chabahar, underscoring the long-term nature of New Delhi's plans at the port.

For India, Chabahar is far more than a commercial venture. The port is central to New Delhi's connectivity strategy, offering access to the Indian Ocean and providing a crucial route to Afghanistan and Central Asia while bypassing Pakistan.

It has also been a key hub for India's humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan. The strategic logic is not new: in 2018, during the first Trump administration, the US had issued a rare exemption to allow Indian companies to continue developing Chabahar even as sweeping unilateral sanctions were imposed on Iran, whose main port at Bandar Abbas was then facing overcapacity.

The current negotiations come at a time when New Delhi is also navigating a complex global sanctions landscape. The MEA had earlier said it was studying the implications of US sanctions on Russian oil companies.

"We are studying the implications of the recent US sanctions on Russian oil companies. Our decisions naturally take into account the evolving dynamics of the global market," the spokesperson had said last year.

Reiterating India's broader approach, the MEA added, "Our position on the larger question of energy sourcing is well-known. In this endeavour, we are guided by the imperative to secure affordable energy from diverse sources to meet the energy security needs of our 1.4 billion people."

Against this backdrop, Chabahar has emerged as another test case of how India balances strategic autonomy with its growing partnership with the US. For now, government sources are clear about the bottom line: while the waiver deadline looms, New Delhi is determined to find a workaround that keeps India anchored at Chabahar, even as it works to address Washington's concerns.

India Coach Refuses To Defend His Team As New Zealand Expose Glaring Flaws

India's defeat in the second ODI against New Zealand highlighted various flaws in the team that were otherwise hidden due to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's exemplary performances with the bat. In a match where the veteran duo failed to continue their hot form, India lost the match while failing to even challenge the opponent team. Speaking at the post-match press conference, assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate refused to shield his players as he urged the bowlers, particularly spinners, to pull up their socks.

"We probably want to bowl a little bit better than we did tonight," Ten Doeschate said, pointing directly at India's poor spin performance and the need for sharper execution in the 50-over format.

India managed to pick just three wickets against New Zealand in the second ODI at Rajkot, with two of those going to pacers - Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna. Kuldeep Yadav did bag a wicket, of Will Young, but it came after the Kiwis had put a 162-run stand for the third wicket.

"Particularly spinners, like you say, about lengths. But we'll go back and look at those lengths in more detail. But it's never just one reason for losing a game. There's a lot of different things going into that loss tonight," he added, underlining that India's defeat was a collective failure rather than an isolated issue.

Daryl Mitchell, the Player of the Match for New Zealand, revealed that the team had orchestrated a deliberate plan to disrupt Kuldeep early in his spell during the match.

"Kuldeep is one of the best bowlers in the world, he can turn it both ways," Mitchell said after being named Player of the Match.

"It was about adapting to different situations and finding different options against him," he added, explaining the planning that went into deciding the team's gameplan, especially against the dangerous left-arm spinner.

"Quite The Opposite": US Senator On Reports Of Trump Not Attacking Iran

US Senator Lindsey Graham, whom President Donald Trump considers to be a "wonderful friend", has claimed that reports suggesting the US does not intend to attack Iran are "inaccurate" and further said that the situation is quite the opposite. In a cryptic post on X, Graham wrote, "Nothing could be further from the truth. Quite the opposite. Stay tuned."

In a separate post on X, Graham stated that the Iranian government is still killing protesters "in full swing" and added, "Hoping help is on the way."

On Wednesday, Graham, who has become an influential member of the Trump administration on foreign policy, said that he wanted to see Trump move ahead with plans to strike Iran. "We must stop those who are responsible for killing the people by any means necessary ASAP. Make The Iranian People Safe Again," he wrote.

Amid tensions, Graham also met Iran's exiled Prince Reza Pahlavi and wrote on X, "Help is on the way".

Iran's envoy to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Thursday stated that Trump has assured Tehran that he won't attack the country and has asked Iran to exercise restraint, Pakistani daily Dawn reported.

A senior Saudi official also told AFP that Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman led efforts to talk Trump out of an attack on Iran.  The Gulf trio "led a long, frantic, diplomatic last-minute effort to convince President Trump to give Iran a chance to show good intention," the Saudi official said on condition of anonymity.

After threatening Iran with imminent attacks in support of anti-government protests, Trump had indicated that he might hold off on attacking Iran. He said that he was reassured by sources "on the other side" that the Iranian government had stopped the killing of anti-government protesters and planned executions would not go ahead. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office regarding military action, Trump said that he would "watch it" and "see what the process is".

However, Trump has always leaned towards diplomacy before launching a full-scale attack, as seen in the case of the Iran strikes in 2025 and the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Rehman Dakait Akshaye Khanna To Return In Dhurandhar 2 On Fan Demand

Dhurandhar's massive success is now directly influencing the creative course of its sequel. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has decided to return to the editing table with Dhurandhar 2, planning an additional shoot that will bring Akshaye Khanna back into the fold after the unexpected and viral response to his character in the first film.

While Dhurandhar went on to deliver a historic box office performance, one of its biggest post-release talking points was Rehman Dakait. Akshaye Khanna's portrayal of the character struck a chord with audiences, triggering widespread online chatter, fan theories, and demands for more screen time.

From menacing stillness to pivotal dialogue beats, the character quickly became one of the film's most discussed elements.

Adding to the buzz was Akshaye's appearance in the song Fa9la by Flipperachi. His brief but striking dance moves in the track went viral across platforms, further amplifying the popularity of Rehman Dakait and reinforcing the audience's appetite to see more of the character.

Sources tell us that Dhurandhar 2, which had already completed its principal shoot, is now set for selective reshoots. The additional filming, expected to begin towards the end of this month, will be supervised by Aditya Dhar himself and will specifically involve Akshaye Khanna.

What makes this move particularly intriguing is Rehman Dakait's fate in the first film. The character dies in Dhurandhar, making his return in the sequel both a narrative challenge and an opportunity. How Aditya Dhar, known for his sharp writing and layered storytelling, chooses to navigate this is now a key point of curiosity.

Industry chatter suggests that the sequel may lean heavily on flashbacks to expand Rehman Dakait's backstory, his rise, and the choices that defined him.

Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. With the sequel already locked and targeted additions now underway, the makers appear focused on strengthening the universe rather than altering its core.

Celina Says She Has No Communication With Her Children Despite Joint Custody

Actor Celina Jaitly has opened up about what she describes as a painful custody battle with her estranged husband, Peter Haag, alleging that she has been denied any access to her three children despite an Austrian court granting joint custody.

In an emotional post on X, the actor detailed her experience of leaving Austria, returning to India, and the legal and financial hurdles she says have kept her separated from her sons Winston, Viraj, and Arthur.

Celina Jaitly Says She Lost Her Children

In her post, Celina wrote about the moment she decided to leave Austria in October last year, claiming she fled an abusive marriage with the help of neighbours.

"I Lost My Children the Day I Chose to Leave Austria to Protect My Dignity, My Children & My Brother. For the thousands of men & women who have written to me about the abuse they have endured in their marriage. I want you to know that you are not alone! 11 Oct 2025 In the early hours of the morning, I left Austria with the assistance of neighbours to escape what I had experienced as systematic oppression & abuse. Thereafter, I was compelled to return to India with only a minimal sum of money in my bank account to navigate the rest of my life," she wrote.

She added that even after moving back to India, she had to seek court intervention simply to enter her own home, a property she says she purchased before her marriage. According to the actor, she was forced to take out a large loan to meet legal expenses, while her children remained in Austria.

'Denied Any Communication With My Children'

Despite a joint custody order being in place, Celina claims she has been unable to speak to or meet her sons. "Despite joint custody & a subsisting order of the Austrian Family Court, I am presently DENIED ANY COMMUNICATION with my 3 children & I am heartbroken!" she wrote, calling the separation devastating.

The actor also stated that she has tried multiple times to reach an amicable settlement with her husband, keeping the interests of the children at the forefront, but says those attempts were met with unreasonable conditions.

She alleges that her efforts to co-parent have been obstructed through what she terms selective narratives and interference with parent-child contact.

Celina Raises Allegations Against Her Husband

In the post, Celina claimed that her children are being influenced against her. "There has been repeated interference with my children's access to me, including exposure to selective media narratives, resulting in obstruction of regular parent child communication, as well as brainwashing & intimidation to compel them to say things against me, a mother who has done nothing but care for them since the day they were born..." she wrote.

The actress further alleged that after she sought an amicable separation, she was presented with demands linked to her premarital assets and was even told to take up low-paid work in Austria to retain joint custody. "When I asked for an amicable separation, I was told that my professional background & achievements were irrelevant & was advised to take up work as a cleaner or in a supermarket... simply to retain the joint custody of my children," she stated, questioning why she was being denied the right to rebuild her life in India.

Celina concluded by calling out what she describes as systemic abuse and coercion, saying she has been left without access to her children due to jurisdictional and financial constraints.

Last year, the actor filed a domestic violence case against Peter and sought custody of their sons, also accusing him of financial misconduct. Both parties appeared before an Andheri court in December as the legal battle continues.

Germany Announces Visa-Free Transit For Indian Passport Holders

India and Germany on Monday unveiled measures to boost cooperation in areas of defence, trade, critical minerals and semiconductors, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chancellor Friedrich Merz vowing to bolster overall bilateral ties to jointly navigate challenges arising out of geopolitical upheaval.

Following talks between PM Modi and Merz, the two sides inked 19 pacts, including a roadmap for defence industrial collaboration and another on expanding cooperation in the higher education sector. A separate pact was inked on engagement in the telecommunications sector.

The two leaders also pitched for early finalisation of the India-European Union (EU) free trade agreement to expand the overall trade basket. A visa-free transit for Indian passport holders for transiting through Germany was also announced to boost people-to-people ties.

The German leader, accompanied by a large business delegation, landed in Ahmedabad early this morning on a two-day visit to India. It is his first trip to Asia as the German Chancellor.

"The growing cooperation in defence and security is a symbol of our mutual trust and shared vision. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Chancellor Merz for simplifying the processes related to defence trade," PM Modi said in his media statement.

"We will also work on a roadmap to enhance cooperation between our defence industries, which will open up new opportunities for co-development and co-production," he added.

In the talks, PM Modi and Merz reaffirmed their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, respect for international law including UNCLOS (UN Convention on the Law of the Sea), and announced a new bilateral Indo-Pacific consultation mechanism.

The move comes amid China's increasing military muscle-flexing in the region.

PM Modi and Merz also reaffirmed their strong support for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), emphasising its transformational potential in reshaping and promoting global commerce, connectivity and prosperity.

In his comments, the prime minister also said that both sides are jointly advancing new projects in areas such as climate, energy, urban development, and urban mobility.

"The new mega project in green hydrogen involving companies from both countries will prove to be a game-changer for the energy of the future.

"India and Germany are working together to build secure, trusted, and resilient supply chains," he said.

PM Modi said the growing trade and investment ties have infused "new energy" into the India-German strategic partnership as he pointed out that the bilateral trade has now reached its highest level ever and crossed the USD 50 billion mark.

"More than 2,000 German companies have been present in India for a long time. This reflects their unwavering confidence in India and the immense opportunities that exist here," he said.

The prime minister said both sides agreed that "terrorism is a serious threat to all humanity" and that India and Germany will continue to fight it together with "full determination".

In his remarks, Chancellor Merz extensively talked about people-to-people connections between the two countries and said the number of skilled workers, including caregivers and nurses, needed from India is increasing rapidly.

An agreement on skill partnership inked following the Modi-Merz talks is expected to facilitate the mobility of more Indian healthcare professionals to Germany, which is home to around 300,000 Indian expatriates and 60,000 students.

"We are experiencing that great powers use supply chains and raw materials increasingly as instruments of power. Together we want to oppose this," Merz said.

"We reduce unilateral dependencies of our supply chains and that makes both our economies more resilient," he said.

PM Modi, in his remarks, described the Indo-Pacific as an area of "high priority" for both countries.

The two leaders also discussed in detail a range of global and regional issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in Gaza.

"India has always advocated for the peaceful resolution of all problems and disputes, and supports all efforts being made in this direction," PM Modi said.

"India and Germany agree that reforming global institutions is crucial for addressing global challenges. Our joint efforts through the G4 group to reform the UN Security Council are a testament to this shared belief," he said.

On mobility of talents, PM Modi said special emphasis has been placed on enhancing migration, mobility and skilling.

"India's talented young workforce is making a significant contribution to Germany's economy." The prime minister said the comprehensive roadmap on higher education will give a new direction to the partnership in the education sector.

"I invite German universities to open their campuses in India," he said.

A joint statement said the two leaders also unequivocally and strongly condemned terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms including cross border terrorism and called for concerted international efforts to combat terrorism in a comprehensive and sustained manner.

PM Modi and Merz condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April last year as well as the terror incident in Delhi in November, it said.

"They committed to strengthen co-operation against terrorists and terrorist entities, including those listed in the UN 1267 Sanctions Committee," it said.

"Both sides also called upon all countries to continue to work towards eliminating terrorist safe havens and infrastructure as well as to disrupt terrorist networks and financing in accordance with international law," the statement added.

Kohli's 93 Sets Up India's Nervy Four-Wicket Win In 1st ODI vs New Zealand

Virat Kohli reigned supreme once again with a 91-ball 93 and skipper Shubman Gill hit 56 but India huffed and puffed before completing a nervy four-wicket win against New Zealand in the opening ODI of the three-match series in Vadodara on Sunday. In pursuit of 301, India were in complete control when Kohli departed in the 40th over but a flurry of wickets saw the home side going over the line with 306 for six in 49 overs. Kohli fell a few runs short of what could have been his 54th ODI century when India needed 67 from 66 balls with seven wickets in hand. Ravindra Jadeja (4) and Shreyas Iyer (49) followed him soon in the dressing room, giving New Zealand a real chance to clinch the game.

However, KL Rahul (29 not out) put on 37 runs with Harshit Rana (29), and the remaining runs came in company of an injury-hit Washington Sundar (7 not out), aided by a few uncharacteristic dropped catches by the Kiwis towards the end.

It was Kyle Jamieson (4/41) who dragged New Zealand back in the game when all seemed lost, getting Kohli caught at mid-on to deny the India batting stalwart a deserving ton. He also cleaned up Iyer with an off-cutter and got rid of Jadeja.

Even as he fell a few runs short of a century, Kohli became the quickest to reach 28,000 runs in international cricket and now only the second behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, going past Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.

New Zealand had posed an at-par 300/8 but with Kohli in such imperious form, it never was enough especially with a depleted bowling attack.

If he didn't refrain from hitting over the top early on against South Africa, Kohli pulverised the Kiwis from the moment he arrived on the crease with a flurry of fours.

There was that trademark planted front foot for a majestical on-drive to pull behind the short fine leg for a four.

And if the 23-year-old Adithya Ashok was star-struck, Kohli pummelled boundaries off the leg-spinner to make another brisk start.

There was a stroke of luck involved too. Batting on a 'different level' by his own admission, Kohli went hard on a full delivery from debutant Kristian Clarke and an inside edge missed the leg stump.

Kohli added 118 runs off 102 balls for the second wicket with Gill, and the pair went nonchalantly about their task even if no boundary was found for 52 balls at a stretch. The drought was ended by Gill when he hit one down the ground, which almost cleared the ropes.

The Indian skipper took time to find his groove to bring up his 16th half-century in ODIs but as the innings progressed, Gill also struggled, possibly with cramps. Having stretched his legs a few times, he called the team physiotherapist for some on-field treatment.

But the break seemed to have broken the momentum at least for Gill, who hit a googly from rookie leg-spinner Adithya straight to mid-off, walking away for a 71-ball 56 with three fours and two sixes.

The right-handed opener, who had missed the majority of the home series against South Africa, would've been pleased with his returns which included a spectacular straight drive and a powerful sweep for a six over deep square leg.

The chase began with a few tight overs before Rohit Sharma (26) took the initiative as Gill showed no intention to attack early on. Having put away a wide ball for a four past point, Rohit picked one off Zakary Foulkes over square leg, and danced down to hit Jamieson over mid-on for another, taking his tally to 650 sixes in international cricket.

However, Jamieson appeared to have followed Rohit who moved away from wickets to clear the infield, but his bat twisted inside at the time of connection and he was dismissed in the ninth over.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell stood tall with a stroke-filled half-century to help New Zealand post 300 for eight.

Mitchell, ranked world No. 3 behind India superstars Kohli and Rohit, lived up to expectations with a gritty knock which gave New Zealand a much-needed impetus amid middle order collapse.

Mitchell clobbered five fours and three sixes to make 84 off 71 balls after New Zealand middle order failed to build on an ideal start given by Devon Conway (56 off 67 balls; 6 fours, 1 six) and Henry Nicholls (62 off 69 balls; 8 fours).

Openers Conway and Nicholls had put on 117 runs to defy India for the first 21 overs, but Harshit Rana's (2/65) second spell of 2-0-13-2 turned the tables and the home side chipped away with regular strikes.

New Zealand skidded from 117 for no loss in the 22nd over to 198 for five in the 38th. But Mitchell forged vital stands to come to their rescue, while debutant Kristian Clarke struck three late fours to make 17-ball 24 not out.

Watch: Indian Traveller's Take On "Dirty" And "Chaotic" Europe Sparks Debate

An Indian travel blogger has shared his candid experience of travelling in Europe, saying it is "undeniably beautiful", albeit "complicated". His description of Europe as "dirty, chaotic, and at times unsafe" went viral because it contrasted sharply with the picturesque images often seen online. He noted that social media often presents a curated version of Europe, concealing the less glamorous aspects.

In the video, Singh discussed several issues he faced during his trip, including dirty public spaces, overcrowding and safety concerns in certain areas.

"Beyond the postcard-perfect streets, there's visible neglect in many cities. Areas that once felt pristine now feel dirty, chaotic, and at times unsafe. The reality on the ground doesn't always match the image we're sold. As a traveler, especially from outside the region, that contrast is hard to ignore," he wrote as the caption of the video, which was labelled as "REALITY OF EUROPE".

The post sparked a heated debate on social media, leaving the internet divided. Some users agreed with his assessment, citing similar experiences. Meanwhile, others argued that his observations were biased.

He even clarified in another post, writing, "I spoke about something I observed, not something I compared. At no point was this Europe vs India."

"Loving India doesn't mean denying its flaws. Appreciating other countries doesn't mean placing them on a pedestal. I just hope we show the same faith, honesty, and responsibility towards our own home as we often do for others."

"Definitely agree with you! Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam are 10x better to travel for various experiences and for better value for money," another said.

"I have visited Switzerland and Spain last year. My experience is completely different," a third user wrote.
