Mercedes Owner Throws Cash On The Ground At Petrol Station, Internet Fumes

People often let a false sense of pride get the best of them without realizing that such behavior can be hurtful to others. Recently, a car owner's disrespectful behavior towards a gas station employee in China left the internet fuming. The video shared on Reddit shows a luxury car owner throwing money out the window after refueling at a gas station, leaving the staff in tears.

The video was shared with a caption that reads, ''Throwing money on the ground for gas station worker.''

Watch the video here:

In the 50-second undated clip, a black Mercedes car can be seen entering a gas station for refueling. The female attendant can be seen promptly filling the petrol in the car, following which she proceeds to ask the owner for payment. Instead of respectfully handing her the money, the owner goes on to throw a few notes on the ground. Though she picks up the notes after the car left the station, she breaks down in tears, as she felt humiliated. At the end of the video, she can be seen wiping her tears.

Internet users who watched the clip were angered by the video and criticized the car owner for his rude behaviour. Some also urged the authorities to ban the entry of the car at all gas stations.

One user reacted to the incident and wrote, '' This is so disheartening. Seeing her wipe away her tears....how do people live with themselves treating someone this way?'' Another commented, '' It shows peoples real character when you see how they treat those less fortunate than themselves.''

A third added, ''Why? Why do people need to be mean? There's NO REASON! It costs NOTHING to be nice!'' Another wrote, '' I believe karma does catch up to people like this.....who knows what this lady is going through. I want to give her a hug, this hurts.'' A fifth wrote, '' I believe karma does catch up to people like this.....who knows what this lady is going through. I want to give her a hug, this hurts.''

According to local media, the motorist said he did not mean to throw the banknotes on the ground but was in a hurry at the time of the incident. However, people were not convinced with the explanation.

US Divers Now Looking For Parts Of China Balloon To Study Its Equipment

After shooting down a Chinese surveillance balloon in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday afternoon, the Pentagon said it has launched a mission to recover all the equipment from the debris.

At the direction of President Joe Biden, the US military at 2.39 pm EST shot down the Chinese surveillance balloon in the Atlantic Ocean, some six miles away from the US shores in South Carolina, with no damage to the life and properties of Americans, a senior defence official told reporters.

Fighter aircraft from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia inspired a single missile into the balloon causing it to crash into the ocean within the US territorial airspace, said the official, adding that as of now there are no indications that any people including US military personnel, civilian aircraft or maritime vessels were harmed in any way.

“I told them to shoot it down,” Biden told reporters in Hagerstown, Maryland.

“On Wednesday, when I was briefed on the balloon, I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down as soon as possible. They decided -- without doing damage to anyone on the ground -- the best time to do that was as it got over water, outside within the 12-mile limit,” Biden said.

“This afternoon, at the direction of President Biden, fighter aircraft assigned to US Northern Command successfully brought down the high altitude surveillance balloon launched by and belonging to the People's Republic of China (PRC) over the water off the coast of South Carolina in US airspace. The balloon, which was being used by the PRC in an attempt to surveil strategic sites in the continental United States, was brought down above US territorial waters,” Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said.

This action was taken in coordination, and with the full support, of the Canadian government.

The Pentagon official told reporters soon thereafter that they took immediate steps to protect against the balloon's collection of sensitive information mitigating its intelligence value to China.

By shooting down the balloon it addressed the surveillance threat posed to military installations and further neutralise any intelligence value it could have produced, preventing it from returning to China.

“In addition, shooting the balloon down could enable the US to recover sensitive PRC equipment. While we took all necessary steps to protect against the PRC surveillance balloon collection of sensitive information of the surveillance balloons overflight of US territory, which was of intelligence value to us,” the official said without divulging much of the information.

“I can't go into more detail, but we were able to study and scrutinise the balloon and its equipment, which has been valuable. The Chinese officials have themselves acknowledged the high-altitude surveillance balloon which has been useful to the People's Republic of China,” said the official.

Now that the balloon has been shot down, focus has shifted to the recovery mission, which is already underway.

Multiple vessels are on the spot along with the divers, to go down if needed. The US has also deployed unmanned vessels that can go down to get the structure and lift it back up on the recovery ship, said the official.

FBI officials are also on board as well, other counterintelligence authorities to be categorising and assessing the platform itself.

According to the second senior defence official, the Pentagon has been tracking this high altitude balloon for some time. It entered Alaska on January 28. It then entered into Canadian airspace on January 30 and re-entered US airspace over Northern Idaho on January 31.

“With confidence the high-altitude balloon was a PRC surveillance balloon. We assessed that it did not pose a threat at any time to civilian air traffic and because of the altitude of the balloons. We also assess it did not pose military or kinetic threat to US people or property on the ground, although we were constantly updating both of those assessments and prepared to take it out if that threat profile changed,” said the official.

“We're also looking at the intel value of the balloon throughout. We are going to learn more as we pick up the debris that was not likely to provide significant added value over and above other PRC intel capabilities such as satellites in low Earth orbit, for example,” said the official.

But nevertheless, this balloon was clearly crossing over sensitive sites, including sensitive military sites. As such, the Pentagon took additional precautions to make sure that whatever added intelligence value was minimised.

Through constant monitoring and surveillance, the US has learned technical things about this balloon and its surveillance capabilities. “I suspect if we are successful in recovering aspects of the debris we will learn even more,” said the official.

US Shot Down Suspected Chinese Spy Balloon With Single Missile

U.S. military fighter aircraft shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon as it floated off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday, drawing to a close a dramatic saga that shone a spotlight on worsening Sino-U.S. relations.

"We successfully took it down, and I want to compliment our aviators who did it," President Joe Biden said.

Biden said he had issued an order on Wednesday to take down the balloon, but the Pentagon had recommended waiting until it could be done over open water to safeguard civilians from debris crashing down to Earth from thousands of feet (meters) above commercial air traffic.

Multiple fighter and refueling aircraft were involved in the mission, but only one -- an F-22 fighter jet from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia -- took the shot at 2:39 p.m. (1939 GMT), using a single AIM-9X supersonic, heat-seeking, air-to-air missile, a senior U.S. military official said.

The balloon was shot down about six nautical miles off the U.S. coast, over relatively shallow water, potentially aiding efforts to recover key elements of the Chinese surveillance equipment among the debris in the coming days, officials said.

The shootdown came shortly after the U.S. government ordered a halt to flights in and out of three South Carolina airports -- Wilmington, Myrtle Beach and Charleston -- due to what it said at the time was an undisclosed "national security effort." The flights resumed on Saturday afternoon.

The balloon first entered U.S. airspace on Jan. 28 before moving into Canadian airspace on Monday Jan 30. It then re-entered U.S. airspace on Jan. 31, a U.S. defense official said. Once it crossed over U.S. land, it did not return to the open waters, making a shootdown difficult.

U.S. officials did not publicly disclose the balloon's presence over the United States until Thursday.

Washington has called it a "clear violation" of U.S. sovereignty and notified Beijing about the shootdown on Saturday, a U.S. official said.

"Our assessment -- and we're going to learn more as we pick up the debris -- was that it was not likely to provide significant additive value over and above other (Chinese) intel capability, such as satellites in low-Earth orbit," the senior U.S. defense official said. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin first announced the shootdown, saying the balloon was being used by China "in an attempt to surveil strategic sites in the continental United States."

A Reuters photographer who witnessed the shootdown said a stream came from a jet and hit the balloon, but there was no explosion. It then began to fall, the photographer said.

The U.S. military did not immediately recover the payload from the Chinese surveillance balloon, U.S. officials said.

The FAA had issued a temporary flight restriction to clear airspace around the South Carolina coast. The notice blocked flights to more than 100 square miles (260 square kilometers) -- mostly over the Atlantic Ocean, according to a document posted by the FAA. The notice warned the military could use deadly force if airplanes violate the restrictions and do not comply with orders to leave.

The Reuters photographer in the Myrtle Beach area could see the suspected spy balloon overhead, with two U.S. military jets flying alongside it.

China expressed regret that an "airship" used for civilian meteorological and other scientific purposes had strayed into U.S. airspace.

China's foreign ministry said on Saturday that the flight of the "airship" over the United States was a force majeure accident, and accused U.S. politicians and media of taking advantage of the situation to discredit Beijing.

But the Pentagon assesses that the balloon was just the latest in a string of Chinese spy balloon activity spanning the globe. On Friday, it said another Chinese balloon was currently flying over Latin America.

"Over the past several years, Chinese balloons have previously been spotted over countries across five continents, including in East Asia, South Asia and Europe," the senior defense official said. The suspected Chinese spy balloon prompted U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to postpone a visit to China this week that had been expected to start on Friday.

The postponement of Blinken's trip, which had been agreed to in November by Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, is a blow to those who saw it as an overdue opportunity to stabilize an increasingly fractious relationship between the two countries.

China is keen for a stable U.S. relationship so it can focus on its economy, battered by the now-abandoned zero-COVID policy and neglected by foreign investors alarmed by what they see as a return of state intervention in the market.

Live: US Fighter Jets Shoot Down Chinese Balloon Over Atlantic Ocean

US local media reported Saturday that in a "national security effort", three US airports were shut down and a suspected Chinese spy balloon was shot down off the country's east coast.

The Chinese balloon, roughly the size of three buses, had been tracked in US airspace, the Pentagon said on Friday. The Chinese aircraft is believed to have surveillance capabilities.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has cancelled his upcoming historic trip to Beijing as a sign of protest against the intrusion of US airspace by China.

China said on Friday an "airship" that is flying over the United States is for civilian meteorological and other scientific purposes and expressed regret that it strayed into US airspace.

On Saturday, US President Joe Biden released a short statement saying that "we will take care of it." Both the White House and the Pentagon said that the Chinese balloon does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground.

Here are the LIVE Updates on the Chinese balloon in US airspace:

US Shoots Down Suspected Chinese Spy Balloon Off Carolina Coast: Reports

The United States today shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the country's east coast, local media reported. Earlier this week, US had claimed that the balloon was spying on sensitive military sites across North America.

Fox News and CNN reported the operation after three southeastern airports were temporarily shut down earlier in the day amid what the Federal Aviation Administration called a "national security effort."

Footage on local media showed a small explosion, which was followed by the balloon descending toward the water. The operation was planned in a manner that all the debris falls into the ocean. Ships had been deployed to recover as much of the debris as possible.

Hours before the balloon was shot down, US President Joe Biden had vowed to "take care" of the balloon.

Asked by reporters to comment on relations with China and the balloon incident, Biden told reporters, "We're gonna take care of it."

The balloon was initially detected entering US airspace on January 28. The white orb lingered over Montana, the site of intercontinental-ballistic-missile silos, and made its way across the country to North Carolina on Saturday.

American officials did not shoot it down earlier over concerns of hurting people or property on the ground.

US Going To Take Care Of Chinese Balloon, Says Joe Biden

President Joe Biden said on Saturday that the United States is "going to take care of" a suspected Chinese spy balloon that has been tracked flying across the United States.

Biden made his remark in response to a question about whether the United States would shoot down the high-altitude surveillance balloon, which has been flying across the country in what Washington calls a "clear violation" of US sovereignty.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken postponed a visit to China that had been expected to start on Friday because of the balloon.

The president did not elaborate on what was planned. Military leaders considered shooting down the high-altitude surveillance balloon this week but eventually recommended against this because of the risk of falling debris, officials said.

China expressed regret that an "airship" used for civilian meteorological and other scientific purposes had strayed into U.S. airspace.

The Pentagon said on Friday that another Chinese balloon was observed over Latin America, without saying where exactly.

Actor Kichha Sudeep's Pic With Top Congress Leader Fuels 'Politics' Talk

Viral images of actor Kichha Sudeep with Congress leader DK Shivakumar has driven speculation that the actor may join politics ahead of the Karnataka election later this year.

DK Shivakumar, the Congress' Karnataka chief, visited the Kannada actor at his home in Bengaluru. Photos of the meeting have been widely shared.

Whether they discussed a political debut for Kiccha Sudeep has not been confirmed by the actor or DK Shivakumar, who has been campaigning for the Karnataka polls.

The Congress has also not commented, though sources tell NDTV it may have just been a courtesy call by Mr Shivakumar.

The Congress leader likely invited Kiccha Sudeep to be a star campaigner, sources said.

The party is making an aggressive bid to regain power in Karnataka after its coalition government with the Janata Dal Secular collapsed in a BJP coup in 2019.

Kiccha Sudeep is one of the most popular actors in the Kannada film industry. He started acting in films in 1997.

The Kannada superstar made headlines last year as he sparred on social media with Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who said Hindi is India's national language.

In August, the actor's move to correct a journalist's pronunciation of "Kannada" sparked a debate.

"You pronounce Tamil correctly, Telugu correctly, but when it comes to Kannada, you say Kannad. You call it Hindi, not Hind, the same way, it's Kannada, not Kannad," Kiccha Sudeep told the journalist.

Astronomers Discover 12 New Moons Orbiting Jupiter

Astronomers have discovered 12 new moons of Jupiter, taking the total number of natural satellites revolving around the Gas Giant to 92. Now Jupiter, which is the biggest planet in the solar system, has the most number of moons, according to Sky and Telescope.

The findings have been reported by astronomer Scott S. Sheppard from the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington DC who observed the planet between 2021 and 2022. The Minor Planet Center (MPC) of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has published the orbits of the new moons.

Before this discovery, Saturn had the biggest family of moons with 83 confirmed natural satellites orbiting it.

According to the US space agency NASA, there are many interesting moons around Jupiter but the first four moons discovered beyond Earth are of the most scientific interest. These four are called Galilean Moons - lo, Europa, Callisto, and Ganymede.

Now a dozen more moons have been spotted around Jupiter. These newly discovered moons are smaller than other giant moons of the planet and take over 340 days to orbit Jupiter. Nine of them have a bigger orbital period of 550 days and are among the 71 outermost Jovian moons, the report added.

Three of the new Jovian moons are among those that orbit in a prograde direction and are located between the large Galilean moons and retrograde moons. According to Sheppard, these are harder to find than the distant retrograde moons. “The reason is that they are closer to Jupiter and the scattered light from the planet is tremendous,” the astronomer was quoted as saying by the publication.

In 2019, Saturn had overtaken Jupiter as the planet with the largest number of moons after Scott S. Sheppard discovered 20 new moons around the ringed planet. A year before, the astronomer had reported 12 new moons orbiting Jupiter after which an online contest was organised to name them.

As Kohli's Replacement, Karthik Names This 'Selfless' Batter First Choice

No matter which format is talked about, Indian cricket is oozing with talent in all departments of the game, be it Test cricket, T20s or ODIs. Every now and then, stories of deserving players not getting the required opportunities in the team make headlines. It has been a similar story for Rahul Tripathi, a batter who has won the hearts of many with his ‘selfless' performances whenever an opportunity has been alotted to him. Dinesh Karthik, veteran Indian wicket-keeper batter, feels Tripathi should be the ‘first-choice' option whenever the selectors go out looking for Kohli's replacement.

In a chat on Cricbuzz, Karthik brilliantly explained the quality that Tripathi brings to the table. Having working with him at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Karthik knows the how big a ‘team player' Tripathi is.

"Whatever I'm going to say now, I don't think it's for Rahul Tripathi, it's for all cricket fans, who follow Indian cricket very closely. Please don't have temporary amnesia in the near future, because the names replacing him will be big. And then we might go and look at the score and say he just scored a 40 or a 30," he said.

Hence, the veteran wicket-keeper batter strongly feels Tripathi should be the first-choice replacement of Kohli whenever the latter decides to step aside.

"I think we shouldn't forget that in 3 months time, 6 months time. Maybe he'll have a good IPL, maybe he won't but he deserves that Indian team number 3 spot whenever that comes. If Virat Kohli chooses to play okay but if Virat Kohli is not around he should be the first choice, not someone who has done well somewhere else," Karthik explained.

Karthik highlighted how Tripathi refused to change his style of play even when his career was on the line and went out to do the job that the team required against Sri Lanka.

“When his career was on the line, he did a fabulous job in the last game against Sri Lanka and this game. He's not someone, who's gonna get many chances, still he went out with that aggression, took high risk options and did exactly what the captain and the coach wanted.”

"The beauty about him is that's his DNA. To go out there and irrespective of how big the situation is, how big the game is, these are the kind of players you'll need because in the big matches he'll exactly do that,” he said.

American Lawmakers Warn Against China's Takeover Of 2 Military Academies

US Lawmakers have warned the Pentagon about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) acquiring military training academies in the US, reported The Washington Free Beacon.

This is considered alarming as the future army cadets trained in these CCP-influenced military schools could have a soft side for China's strategies and aims, reported The Washington Free Beacon.

The report claims that in 2015 the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference a political advisory board for the CCP purchased New York Military Academy for USD 16 million dollars after a bidding war with another Chinese conglomerate.

In 2017 a Chinese education conglomerate purchased the Florida Preparatory Academy reportedly to create a global educational alliance system. Both of these military academies Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) and train military officers for the US army.

A member of the House Armed Services Committee and also a part of the US army Michael Waltz was quoted in the report by Chuck Ross for Washington Free Beacon saying that "Chinese ownership of these schools could pose a national security threat".

"To the extent that those private schools have JROTC programs that are forming the backbone of the future leaders of our military, this is something I would hope and would expect the US Defense Department would work with me to better understand," Waltz told the Washington Free Beacon.

Waltz also wrote a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, urging the Pentagon to survey JROTC programs at private schools across the country to see if they are foreign-owned.

In the letter, he mentioned that "With the ongoing military recruitment crisis, I am concerned that any students we recruit into the service from these CCP-influenced schools will have a sympathetic view of China's political and strategic aims".

The report by Ross also claimed that these purchases of the US military academies have raised concerns about CCP's motives, as it has already increased its efforts of infiltration of American universities, think tanks, and other spheres of influence.

According to a federal spending database, the Department of Defense has awarded over USD 4,75,000 in contracts for various cadet programs to New York Military Academy since its Chinese takeover.

A company named Fang Holdings that has majority holdings in New York Military Academy is owned by Mo Fang which has ties with the CCP. In 2018, Mo said he was "very honoured" to be a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which he affirmed operates "under the leadership of the Communist Party of China". At the New York Military Academy, Mo has installed many of his Chinese business partners on the historic school's board of trustees.

China's Newopen Group owner of the Florida Preparatory Academy since 2017. A year prior to this purchase it had signed a strategic partnership with Chongqing Environmental Investment Group, a CCP-linked municipal agency. This was to build a network across China, North America, Europe, and Australia, the report claimed.

The same report from Ross also mentioned that both of these schools purchased by CCP have not responded to the request to respond on the matter.

"For Me It's About Dharma": Rishi Sunak On Taking Up Challenging Tasks

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has spoken of his motivation behind taking on the top job at 10 Downing Street in the wake of intense political turmoil last year as his "dharma".

In a televised interview with 'Talk TV' host Piers Morgan at his Downing Street home to mark 100 days in the job as Britain's first Indian-origin Prime Minister on Thursday, he was asked what made him take on the tough task amid a crippling cost-of-living crisis and his predecessor Liz Truss' shortest term as Prime Minister at just 45 days.

"For me it's about duty. There's a concept in Hinduism called dharma, which roughly translates into duty and that's how I was raised. It was about doing the things that were expected of you and trying to do the right thing," he replied.

"Even though it was going to be a nightmare job… I felt that I could make a difference and was the best person to make a difference at that moment, especially given the challenges that people were facing, what they were seeing with their mortgages and that's ultimately why I put myself forward to do it knowing that it would be difficult and challenging but ultimately doing what was my duty in that situation. I believe deeply in service and thought I could make a difference for the country," he said.

The 42-year-old, who swore his oath of allegiance on being elected member of Parliament in the House of Commons on the 'Bhagavad Gita', has often spoken about his Hindu faith giving him strength.

The UK-born son of National Health Service (NHS) doctor Yashveer and pharmacist Usha has spoken of regular visits the temple with his family and during last year's leadership campaign, he took time out to make a visit to a Hare Krishna temple on the outskirts of London for Janmashtami to seek blessings.

In the wide-ranging interview this week, he also referred to his wife Akshata – the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy – as his support system and admitted he was "batting above his average" with her as his life partner.

He revealed how he romantically proposed to her, going down on one knee, and praised "the support that she gives me in this job".

"I wouldn't be able to do this job without her love and support to keep going," he said.

Asked about the "mantra" the British public could cling on to, he added: "Have hope because I can make it better and I will make it better. That's what I am working day and night to do." Morgan also asked him about his personal wealth and he repeated a previous commitment to publish his tax returns in the interest of "transparency".

"They [tax returns] will be published shortly. As you know the tax filing deadline was just a few days ago… they will be released shortly," he said.

On the wave of public sector strikes over pay, Sunak said he would "love to give the nurses a massive pay rise" but pointed out that he could not, as doing so would stoke inflation.

"Even if it's not popular, it's the right thing for the country to stay the course to beat inflation," he said.
